Publisher's summary

M. T. Pope delivers another hot, scandalous tale full of lust, infidelity, and over-the-top drama.

Kraig Holmes is a hard-working independent contractor living in Baltimore. He’s an average guy - with one exception. A painful secret haunts him daily. Kraig had a one-time sexual experience with a man he knew little about. It propelled him into a lifestyle of promiscuity and an insatiable appetite for dangerous sex. When the guy disappeared into thin air, Kraig was left hurt and devastated.

Now Kraig has developed a taste for the married men who pursue him while he’s working on their homes. When his sexual escapades spiral out of control and out into the open, he quickly tries to get things under wraps. Then the unexpected happens - a chance encounter with his one-night stand from college. Kraig is hurt when he discovers the man doesn’t even remember him.

Kraig vows to set up the man who turned him out and disappeared. What Kraig doesn’t know is that his “victim” isn’t the lay-down-and-take-it type. He has a few cards up his sleeve that will deliver damaging blows to Kraig’s life. When it’s all said and done, the truth with be revealed, and there will be consequences.

Almost a 5 for the story…

This was a realtor good audiobook! I wold have given it a 5 for the story, but I got the impression from the story that being gay is a choice. The same with being trans. Wrong! It is who we are.

One of the best books I’ve read

This book was amazing. It’s full of unexpected surprises. I highly recommend it. I normally don’t listen every day, but this made me listen every single day all day until I had it read.

Enjoyed it for the most part!

The voice actor was stellar. I think he played the biggest part in keeping me engaged, Now, for the story itself. Perhaps this was by design, but I found the protagonist to be very unlikeable. He has no accountability, and he ends up wrapping everyone he loves into a life threatening scheme that ends tragically for one character, I thought the ending was very rushed, and it left me with so many unanswered questions.

Up until that point, however, I really did enjoy the plot for what it was. I found most of Carlos' scenes to be very bland and unnecessary (excluding the scenes that also involved Jared). Every time I heard his name, I'd groan in disappointment. It felt like I was being forced on a field trip away from the main story so that we could hear yet again about Carlos doing nothing particularly interesting. For example, why did Craig (and by extension, the reader), have to be present while Carlos went on a date with Carla? or when Carlos was courting the other woman at his mother's house? Why did we need a section dedicated to Craig and Carlos's day at the ATV day. There was nothing of importance said in any of these scenes, I think it would have been more concise had Carlos and Carla already been a couple at the book's beginning. Many mundane conversations could have been avoided. Anyhow, still give this book a read or a listen if you need something quick to get you through the day.

Lame!

I didn't hate it. I wasn't thrilled by it. I saw so many things coming a mile away. There were so many tropes, clichés and the use of stereotypical urban slang phrases made me question the authenticity of the writer's implied ethnicity. There was an unforeseen twist at the end but it was enveloped in a rather anti-climactic and inexplicably emotional-based mystery. The sex scenes were ok. They were graphically described which kinda fit the character. Throughout there were words and phrases that contradicted the street-ish nature of the main character. For the most part, the premise was lame and the plot was written more dramatically than the sittuation warranted had it been real. The narration was great. The narrator had a great command of his voice and each character was very well voiced.

Whew Chile!!!

First off, I LOVE the narration for Kraig’s character. He really bout it to life. Not too sassy or too masculine, it was perfect! This story was bomb, I just wish there was a part 2.

meh

Starts off strong, but devolves into forehead-smacking stupidity. Main character actually seems to forget a major plot element that he was involved in, only to remember it in the next chapter... and who HESITATES to give blood if your mother's partner is in surgery and needs it?! There's nearly an entire chapter worth of exposition between the ask and the *reluctant* agreement. It's not a kidney for Christs sake! Aggravatingly bad writing at the end.
