Publisher's summary

Romance writer Mona Rossi's book sales are slipping. She needs new ideas and fast! Her vampire love, Fausto Silvius is a doctor aboard the Romanza, a luxury cruise ship. Holding a "Motion on the Ocean" writer's cruise sounds like a great idea. What better way to combine a career boost with romance?

But they soon discover hunters on board who give chase to Fausto and his fellow vampires. While he longs to bring Mona into his world, how can he convince her to join him with fringe lunatics on the hunt? In the prime of her life she's not sticking her neck out for a shot at eternity.

Sound quality issues. Story fun and light.

I very much like the characters in all their glory, failure, striptease, hunting, turning, and all. I could really visualize Mona as Anne Hathaway. Many of the other character came to life just by the things that they were doing or trying to do. And having a dream cast list to match the various characters to just made things happen clearer while listening to the audio.
Now on to the audio. The audio was a bit echoie. The narrator was good, but it was the sound quality that detracted from the story and the narration.

Dream Cast from author...
Anne Hathaway as Mona Rossi
Vincent Irizarry as Fausto Silvius
Gwen Stefani as Teresa “Tessie” Lionetti
James Franco as Quintus Silvius
Michelle Pfeiffer as Zanna Jones
Michael Caine as Royal Jones

Good LOL story

I got this story via audiobook boom and this is my voluntary review. Although, from reading the description you would think this was a romantic suspense story, it was actually a romantic comedy for me. The narrator did not float my boat, pun intended. But there were several parts of the story that were laugh out loud moments for me. Either because the narration was not so good or the story was just plain funny. There were some serious issues with how the story was told and I assume the author wanted them to be funny. If not they were funny to me. The romance was sprinkled in just enough to keep the story going. I am not sure if the author intended for this to be a funny vampire story but it made my day.

Bloody Cruise

This is a first for me with this author. I am so glad I gave this a listen. The action and suspense of this paranormal romance kept you glued to your earbuds. Vampires, Romance and a cruise, what's not to love. Anthony Lee did a great job also.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Interesting Paranormal Romance

This was my first Diana Rubino's book. This paranormal romance was nothing like what I have read before. The storyline is complex, interesting, fun, and filled with mystery, suspense, danger, action, and drama. With vampires and hunters in the same cruise, unexpected adventures are unavoidable! The ending is great. Anthony Lee did a good reading of this story. I was given a free review copy of the audiobook — at my request — and have voluntarily left this review.

Enjoyed

This cruise will be interesting. A murderer, Vampires. Vampire hunters and a Vampire wedding. What could be more fun. The story line is very interesting and kept me entertained throughout the book. The vampires in this book are not your average vampires. They are generally good people but the hunters say otherwise. The narrator did a great job with the characters voices. I was gifted this book at my request in exchange for an honest review.

Just right for a listen on a beach

Five years after its original release in print, A Bloody Good Cruise by best-selling author Diana Rubino is available now in audiobook format and although Romance isn’t my favorite genre, I spent this Weekend listening to this one, in order to bring you all the promised review.

The story follows Mona Rossi, a young and very attractive Romance writer as she embarks on the voyage of her life on the beautiful and luxurious cruise ship Romanza. Looking for new ideas for a future novel, as current sales aren’t great, and hoping to touch bases with the man she is in love with. Mona finds herself pulled into a world filled with love, sex, intrigue and deadly perils, on a cruise ship that hides secrets and dangers.

There are vampires, a lot of romance, a group of vampire hunters, the promise of everlasting life, if the hunters don’t get you first, and one or two love stories, of course.

The author’s writing style is fluid, easy to follow, funny and her descriptions for the characters and the world that surrounds them is vivid and well done.

The audiobook version of A Bloody Good Cruise is performed by Anthony Lee and he does his best with the matterial provided. In my humble opinion, this audiobook should have been narrated by a female narrator, as it is customary with stories that have the main protagonist a woman, but that’s just me beeing strict and obtuse, probably.

Anthony Lee brings all the characters to life with different voices and accents, while at the same time reading the story in his strong and serious voice. I can surely see him casting for a Thriller or a Sci-Fi audiobook, but he did as much as can be expected of him with this Romance story.

If you are into Romance books, vampires and escapes on the blue waters, A Bloody Good Cruise might just be the audiobook to take with you on the beach, or why not, on a cruise…

A Bloody Good Cruise

A Bloody Good Cruise is my first introduction to the writings of Diana Rubino. This book tells about an author, Mona, the human, and a doctor, Fausto, the vampire. They are on a cruise and are attracted to one another. They find themselves in danger because of an ex wife and vampire hunters.
I have to admit A Bloody Good Cruise is one read I was not sure about at first, but I love to dive into something new. I am so glad I did. I thought this book was great. I enjoyed the danger, fast paced action, adventure and the opposites attract romance. I thought it was an all around fun read. Especially, the audio version. The performance of Anthony Lee was fabulous.
I am giving A Bloody Good Cruise four and a half stars. I would love to read ore stories by Diana Rubino in the near future. I recommend this one for those who enjoy paranormal romance.
I received the audio version of this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.

A Bloody Good Cruise

If you had a vampire boyfriend who wanted nothing more than for you to share the rest of your life with him, would that mean that he would be okay with spending the rest of your human life or would he want you to become a vampire as well? What would be so terrible about living forever? Time is the most precious resource that we always want more of and Rubino is offering her characters just that…a way to capitalize on this want and desire. Of course, with immortality comes other consequences like seeing your loved ones die—family, friends, colleagues—it may become a bit unbearable and not worth the additional time to some. Join Mona and Tessie as they explore the wonders of the vampire world—which is not at all what the movies and books make it out to be.

Mona knows that her boyfriend—Fausto—is a vampire, but her friend Tessie doesn’t know anything about this world. When they decide to hop on a romantic cruise, Mona plans on telling Tessie what she is getting into with her lover. After all, not everyone thinks the same way, right?! So what if she isn’t ready to make the commitment to become a forever vampire to be with Fausto? That doesn’t mean Tessie isn’t ready to make that leap. Before Tessie gets the chance to make that decision, they run into a band of vampire hunters. With their main target being to rid the world of vampires under the preconceived notion that all vampires are destructive blood suckers that want to do nothing more than cause chaos, Mona and Tessie can only hope to change the head vampire hunter’s view before it is too late, and in doing so…will Mona change her own mind in the process?

Rubino’s story is a bit rushed and the character development is not as solid as it could be. Upon listening to Lee’s narration, the story feels like it should be a soap opera because the drama is highly elaborated, meaning the emotions are embellished and the plot appears to be unfinished. Lee’s vocal relay is very spotty—his narration is articulated, slow, and unentertaining. We typically do not recommend stories that do not meet all or most of our criteria and our suggestion would be to rework this story and slow the scenes down, while cutting the embellishment and outlandishness down a bit since readers want to have a little credibility in the world that they are being wrapped up into. In most of the story, there was a lot of backtracking due to newly introduced concepts for vampires which detracts from the storyline. Another suggestion is to have the narrator quicken his pace of reading so that this story doesn’t sound condescending or portrayed in a joking manner. The title is also misleading. The first assumption that we made was that it would have British characters going on a cruise. Then, when we figured out that it didn’t appear to have British characters, we thought that it would be a bit gory, which that isn’t the case either. It was quite clean and romantic which a little hint of suspense.

Wow, The narrator totally ruined this for me. Seemed more like a YA book, adding the poor narration, it was definitely not for me.
