Best Valued Audiobook I've Bought
This is by far the best value I've gotten on Audible out of over 60 non-fiction/self-help audiobooks so far. I really liked getting the snapshots of the selected success books and found the narrator's delivery more than adequate to do the job. At first I thought I would just listen to this audiobook as a shortcut to understanding, sort of like reading Cliffnotes. However, I am incredibly inspired to delve into some of these works, as the author does occassionally point out a 15-20 minute synopsis leaves out some important material. I would say this is a way to "test-drive" some of the books before buying, and hopefully you will come to know which ones suit your needs.

worth the money
The 50 success classics as well as the 50 self-help classics and the 50 psychology classics are all worthwhile for the reader who wants a quality overview of the subjects. I have all 3 in audio and later bought the 50 self-help classics in print for a refferance in my book collection.
I found that Tom Butler-Bowden included a good balance of personal observations along with the core details and excerpts from the individual books covered without injecting an overt personal bias. These books have increased my reading list, but with a clarity and focus to read the books that most interest me. These books are not just a collection of excerpts from others' writings. They include background information on the authors and the times and circumstances surrounding the writings. These books are entertaining and informative by themselves; but I think anyone who truly has an interest in their subject matter will find them to be useful resources as well as shortcuts to a greater understanding of the subjects.
I highly recommend these books in both their printed and audio forms. The audio versions are read by professional narrators with engaging voices that add to the pleasure of the listening experience. I can't recommend these books enough for anyone interested in learning more of the human experience through the insight from some of the greatest minds.

As Expected
This audio book met my expectations. It was about 10 hours of success oriented book summaries (listed at http://www.butler-bowdon.com/success-classics-list.html). The choice of books that were summarized seemed thoughtfully selected, and the narrator did a fine job reading. Now I feel more prepared as I choose other books in this genre for further reading.

I have read some of these "success classics" books before I bought "50 Success Classics". I found the summarisation in this audiobook extremely good. It removed a lot of mental clutter. There was so much info that i'm going to have to go back and take notes (when i have 10 hours to go back) This is a great way to get "cliff notes" of 50 great books... a great way to find out a little about a lot and if you want more info, you can go out and buy the book. i found out that a lot of "success books" coming out these days are rehashes of thoughts published many many years ago! highly recommend... i just got 50 selfhelp and 50 psychology greats.... on to my next!

great introduction
This was an enjoyable listen and a great introduction both to very popular and more obscure motivational books. Because some of the chronicled books date back into the 19th century and earlier, it was a great window into history as well. At the same time, modern books are also well covered.
This is not an exhaustive presentation of any of the books so actually reading the books that seem interesting is necessary to gain a complete understanding. However, the author does a great job of summarizing the main points and placing the books into context.

I was looking for another book and stumbled upon this book. This has proven to be by far one of the best books I’ve listened to. You can test drive 50 books in one, what's not to like.
I felt like I was at a smorgasbord; I could sample a little of this a little of that. After listening to this audio you can purchase authors who really catch your attention. If you like to try before you buy this is it.

The Narrator Ruins It
The title sounded promising, and the idea of getting the essence of 50 classics from one listen was equally appealing. After 1 hour of trying hard to listen pass the Narrator's boring voice I had to switch it off. Be sure to listen to the sample and decide if you can handle several hours of this before you purchase.

A WARNING......
My warning is this: if you listen to this book, you are going to buy a lot more success books, as you become interested in the ideas of authors through the years.
It is a very good precis of the key books in the field, so if you are new to the literature, this is a good way to dip a toe in. If you are familiar with some of the works, i think that you will be prompted to check out some of the titles outlined.
You have been warned.

Great for snippets of information
This is a great title and gives you an excellent starting point for your next book. I have gained a great deal of mental stimulation from this particular title. The other great thing about it is that you can break the books up into small sections of about 10-15 minutes, perfect for that walk home or short trip on the tube.
