Trapped in a dead-end job in his Ohio hometown, watching the girl of his dreams move on to a glamorous new life in a big city - Donald McDougal's aimlessness has held him back for a long time. Amazing. No, astonishing!

Made me into a true believer.

The main character is relateable, struggling to balance the need to do whatever you have to survive, the desire to seize opportunities to flourish no matter the cost, and the responsobility to do what you know to be right.

The story is funny, nostalgic, sad, challenging, cringe-inducing, moving, and above all, heroic.

I highly recommend it.
