A Breath of Snow and Ashes: International Edition

Outlander: Gabaldon, Book 6

By: Diana Gabaldon

Narrated by: Geraldine James, Davina Porter

A worldwide sensation with more than 12 million copies in print, Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series has produced number one best-selling novels and earned a fiercely devoted fan base. Another spellbinding entry in the series, A Breath of Snow and Ashes continues the saga of 18th-century Scotsman Jamie Fraser and his 20th-century time-traveling wife, Claire.

The year is 1772, and the rift between Britain and its American colonies has put a frightening word into the minds of all concerned: revolution. In the backwoods of North Carolina, violence has already reared its ugly head, as cabins have been burned to the ground. To preserve the colony for King George III, the governor pleads with Jamie to bring the people together and restore peace. But Jamie has the privilege, although some might call it a burden, of knowing that war cannot be avoided.

Claire has told him that the colonies will unite and rebel, and the result will be independence, with all British loyalists either dead or exiled. And there is an additional problem. Claire has discovered a newspaper clipping from 1776 that tells of Jamie's death.

With its epic scope, historical details, and sweeping romance, A Breath of Snow and Ashes is everything Gabaldon's fans love and more.

What does Davina Porter bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Davina does an excellent job of creating a different voice for each character so that it is easy to follow conversations between characters

If you could take any character from A Breath of Snow and Ashes out to dinner, who would it be and why?

Young Ian has such a story - I would love to hear all of it

fascinating and richly detailed.

I found. this book to be very entertaining and beautifully written. Equal to Dianna Gaboldons usual perfection.

Another fabulous slice of Americana!

I loved the narrator, she brought the book to life with the perfect range of emotion for each character.
Claire and Jamie never tire for me, and these adventures nicely answer some lingering threads from previous books ,as well as generating new ones. Drama, intrigue, and the warm--if volatile-- personal relationships keep me coming back for more!

Captivating as always

The saga continues and I was in love with it all, so many twists and turns. The attention to detail is amazing! My only ‘complaint’ is how this book was divided into sections for download, was very annoying to remember what one I was on and to have to ‘start’ a new one. I like seeing how much I’ve listened to and how much is left. There should be an option to do one or the other. I truly hope no others are like this.

A breath worth taking

wonderful book. I love where the story is going. on to an echo in the bone.
