Older Novels were better novels

If the story had pages it would not be page turned. The earlier novels had more depth and complexity

An excellent start to a new series

From the pages of the Pendergast book series, Nora Kelly and Corrie Swanson meet and join forces to solve a mystery dating back to the ill fated Donner Party tragedy. Ghost stories, lost treasure, shadowy assassin's, against the backdrop of the great Western wilderness all play a part in the story. Who dunnit? Why dunnit? How dunnit?

I highly recommend this, and any future books in this series. If you enjoy the Pendergast books, you will enjoy this one as well.

Preston and Child didn't dissapoint!

I really enjoyed the history of this story which can only capture your imagination, and gives it a total unexpected spin at the end! The narration I felt to be average and was very disappointed that she would give Pentergast a British accent rather than his genteel Southern accent!

Good Story, so so narration.

I enjoyed the story, but wasn't to fond of the narration especially disliked Pendergast accent.

Not their best, but totally worth the read

I think the negative reviews about this booked were overstated. I really enjoyed the book even though it didn’t blow me away like their more classic novels. Moved a bit slowly, but still great suspense with a surprising ending. The narrator could have been better, but she certainly did not ruin the story. I honestly preferred this novel to Obsidian Chamber, Verses for the Dead, and Pharoah’s Key (to all my DGLC fans out there). You should def give it a shot.
