The nine gifts of the Spirit can be consolidated into three different categories. The reason that they can be consolidated into these categories, is because each of the gifts categorized, do something similar. The second of the three categories, are what we call the power gifts. The reason we call them the power gifts, is because each one of these gifts, do something. The reason that they are called ministry gifts is because those who receive them, are called by God to the ministry, i.e. they are called to serve the church in the ministry of the gospel.
