The Miami Hurricanes have just landed a verbal commitment from four star linebacker Gavin Nix. The Class of 2025 IMG Academy standout chose Miami over FSU and Oregon. Nix referred to his Hurricanes official visit in June as a game-changer after he really connected with linebackers coach Derek Nicholson. Nix was the defensive captain at IMG last season and is regarded as being physically mature enough to get on the field as a freshman.

The newest Miami Hurricanes verbal commit, four star linebacker Gavin Nix, explains why he chose the Miami Hurricanes. Nix, a standout from IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, announced his pledge to Miami over Oregon and FSU on Monday evening. Nix opens up on what made his recruitment by Miami so special and how Miami coaches like linebackers coach Derek Nicholson and head coach Mario Cristobal were instrumental in his process. Nix played at IMG with current Hurricanes Antonio Tripp Jr, Riley Williams and Francis Mauigoa. Francis’ older brother, linebacker Kiko Mauigoa, hosted Nix on his UM visit.

Miami Hurricanes quarterback commit Luke Nickel just placed in the final eleven at the prestigious Elite 11 Finals! Elite 11 is the nation’s premiere quarterback competition and Nickel performed well and kept his poise over the three days of competition. The Miami Hurricanes have just landed a verbal commitment from four star cornerback Chris Ewald Jr. The Chaminade-Madonna HS standout chose the Hurricanes over the Georgia Bulldogs. UGA made a late push for Ewald and it was reported on Thursday morning that he could be leaning in the Dawgs’ direction. Instead, Miami locks up a verbal pledge from one of the best players in the country. Ewald has decided to stay close to home and remain in South Florida.

The Sanford Seminole HS standout chose the Hurricanes over Florida State, Penn State, Clemson, Ole Miss and UCF. Buchanan stands 6-4, 280 pounds. He plays left tackle in high school but has the versatility to play anywhere. Most recruiting services project him to move to the interior at the college level.
