The Miami Hurricanes have become the trending leaders in recruiting for four star linebacker Gavin Nix and four star safety Hylton “Drake” Stubbs. They are both scheduled to make announcements this week. Nix will announce his verbal pledge on July 1st, while Stubbs will announce on Independence Day. Will Miami get good news for both? The Miami Hurricanes have just landed a verbal commitment from four star linebacker Gavin Nix. The Class of 2025 IMG Academy standout chose Miami over FSU and Oregon. Nix referred to his Hurricanes official visit in June as a game-changer after he really connected with linebackers coach Derek Nicholson. Nix was the defensive captain at IMG last season and is regarded as being physically mature enough to get on the field as a freshman.

The newest Miami Hurricanes verbal commit, four star linebacker Gavin Nix, explains why he chose the Miami Hurricanes. Nix, a standout from IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL, announced his pledge to Miami over Oregon and FSU on Monday evening. Nix opens up on what made his recruitment by Miami so special and how Miami coaches like linebackers coach Derek Nicholson and head coach Mario Cristobal were instrumental in his process. Nix played at IMG with current Hurricanes Antonio Tripp Jr, Riley Williams and Francis Mauigoa. Francis’ older brother, linebacker Kiko Mauigoa, hosted Nix on his UM visit.

Nix joined host Alex Donno to talk about his high school career and what Miami fans can expect from him starting in 2025. Nix confirmed he will be an early enrollee at Miami next January. Nix discussed the opportunity he has to come to Miami with fellow 2025 linebackers Elijah Melendez and Ezekiel Marcelin. Nix is already friendly with both of them.
