The Miami Hurricanes have just FLIPPED defensive tackle Donta Simpson from his commitment to the Maryland Terrapins. Simpson verbally commits to The U after receiving an offer over the weekend. He grew up a Miami fan and didn’t waste more than five days before offering his verbal pledge. Simpson is a twitchy, explosive playmaker from the interior defensive line. He recorded 19.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks last season as a high school junior at Chaminade-Madonna. He even had a pick six last year.

Miami Hurricanes offensive coordinator Shannon Dawson made headlines on Tuesday when he said Miami’s offense is “not anywhere close to where it needs to be.” Dawson also noted that they are only five practices in, but his disclaimer didn’t stop trolls and aggregators from taking his comments out of context in order to portray Miami’s offense as “lost.” Dawson was using his high standards of where he wants Miami’s offense to be, and what it will take to get them there. He wants more communication, urgency and consistency. Miami is loaded with talent like quarterback Cam Ward, running backs Damien Martinez and Mark Fletcher, and one of the best offensive lines in the country.

The Miami Hurricanes can break the narrative of “offseason champs” or “underachievers” in this upcoming college football season.
