The prophets of old were not easy to listen to because they did not flatter. They did not cajole. They spoke hard words that often chafed and unsettled their listeners. Like the Old Testament prophets, and more recent prophetic voices like Frederick Douglass, Dr. Eric Mason calls the evangelical church to a much-needed reckoning. In a time when many feel confused, complacent, or even angry, he challenges the church to:

• Be aware - to understand that the issue of justice is not a black issue, it's a kingdom issue. To learn how the history of racism in America and in the church has tainted our witness to a watching world.

Enlightening

Loved it. Every human being should read this. It is time that this world come together as one.

Don’t let the title run you off

Open your mind and your heart and listen to the truth in this book. This should be required listening for anyone claiming to be a Christian.

So eye opening and full of hope!

I really loved reading this. It opened my eyes in many ways to how we arrived to where we are as it relates to race. It is a grievous history indeed that impacts us to this very day. As a Christ follower though, I am convicted that we’ve got to find a way forward. Thank you Dr Mason for shining a light and lighting up a pathway for us to follow.

Yes...a call to the Church of Jesus Christ!

I'm so glad I bought the Audible so I can get through it faster. it was very inspiring and motivating for me as an African American saint to be "woke'.

A must read

Be encouraged as we work together Now to build the church that will be created in heaven. Understanding and carrying out the GOSPEL!!

A must read for our generation!

Practical, challenging and action oriented. Dr. Mason provides a must needed emphasis on the churches role during this age using the truth from God's Word.

A Must Listen

"Woke Church" is a fantastic book that is eye opening and convicting. I highly suggest anyone who claims Christianity to read/listen to this book.

Excellent Book!!!

This book made a clear biblical case for the need for the church to spiritually awakened to the gospel’s solution to racial division.

Good overall

Narration was good. Editing should have been better. Overall it was good but it failed, most of the time, to speak to me powerfully. Some exceptions though. I did really like the emphasis on the image of God.

A timely read. Church, we need to listen.

Rich, challenging and gospel centered. It was helpful to read in community. This is not a book to rush through but it is easy to read.
