The Connected System has changed Earth forever. It has brought the apocalypse but also brought other stronger enemies from the wider universe.

Lochlan Brady and his daughters have found shelter in a new and growing community. Loch has found himself put in charge of the fledgling Clan Brady. It is not a position he wanted, but with his greater power it is one he has the responsibility for.

Together with a Council of knowledgeable and skilled people in the Clan, the Bradys work to set themselves up to survive through the coming winter and the many dangers from the changes brought by the Connection. But now the invaders from the larger universe are making their moves.

Loch is new to the Connection and will need to lead his people against enemies and monsters that have been part of the Connection for centuries and have the experience that Loch and his people lack.

its a solid story but the build up is a bit slow. up to book 4 and they are just looking level 26.

solid series waiting for everyone to get their brains wrapped around the new truth and get it in gear

So the story is good narration is great, the problem every encounter every new character takes a 5 minute dialogue about how the system or circumstances is unfair fine for books 1 maybe 2 but we here at book 4 and still have to have half the book complained by about the system. Get it together we get it lock doesn’t want his children fighting blah blah blah. I like that this book is more about the struggles of earth is focal and there not goku by chapter 3 like most in the genre but I can’t listen another inner dialogue about how the system is unfair and people shouldn’t have to fight or people don’t want to contribute.

Almost a 5

I really appreciate the series as a dad with a daughter… This book continued it really well. I can’t wait for the next one.

Great continuation…

The pacing is a bit slow but the worldbuilding and character building kind of makes up for it. Sometimes a bit too slow though and a surprisingly few things actually happened in this book when you boil it down.

Lacks pacing but good anyway!

While this series has always had a bit of whining "woe is me" in it, i feel like this book in particular ramps it up to 11. it's just chapter after chapter of complaining from every single character. It gets fairly annoying and tedious. Less an enjoyable romp in a litrpg world and more a slog through constant depression. Piper is probably the worse, cause when she isn't complaining that no one takes her seriously, she is complaining about wanting to be a normal kid again. I am starting to actively hate her.
Aside from the unholy amount of complaints about getting super powers and vastly expanded life spans, this series as a whole has a serious inconsistency problem. information, progression, abilities, and items have no real consistency from book to book or even chapter to chapter. It is baffling to me that any litrpg author would be this awful at maintaining continuity of the most basic aspects of a progression fantasy novel. Weapons armor and skills. Honestly if you pay too much attention to that part of the story you would probably have rage quit this entire thing halfway through book one. Still at book four i would have expected SOME improvement on that, but nope the author still keeps forgetting or adding things randomly. Lol the author does seem to have SOME self awareness cause they have all but completely stopped giving any progression updates on anyone other than the main character, which while annoying would have been fine..... If the author didn't keep using Piper and Harper as measuring sticks for the power levels of the various monsters and people they come across. Power levels i remind you the author has stopped updating making it completely useless!!!
Sigh, despite my long winded rant at the end of a four book binge i did actually like the series, it just needs some obvious improvements to turn it from good enough to truly great.

FAR too much whining and too many inconsistencies.
