Resumen del Editor

Jack was there when the world ended.

Bandit, duelist, hero--Jack had been many things in his life. When failure to stop a crazed cultist allowed eldritch nightmares to attack his home, Jack escaped with as many people as he could save, even though it meant leaving a friend.

Now Jack’s come back to right that wrong and find out what happened to his home, a place where warlords, monsters, and cosmic terrors now battle for dominance. Thrown into a post-apocalyptic kingdom he blames himself for creating, Jack will come face-to-face with true darkness.

To survive, Jack will need to increase his level and master the magical deck of cards that grant him his powers. New allies and new adventures await in the ruins of the ancient city.

Well worth the listen

I have been listening to the goblin summer series. And this is a great addition to the world. I love the good character building and development nothing seems forced great interactions between characters. Looking forward to the next book

Another awesome tale in the world of Acamida!

To be honest, I got a copy of the book in order for me to give an honest review.

The series of the goblin summoner is one of my favorites these days, mainly because of the main gang and their interaction. So I was one part excited and one part scared to start this book, which focuses on a side character we hardly know.

But, our new found hero quickly gathers his own gang and tries to save the broken city field with nightmares and monsters. If you loved the bantering in the main series there is plenty of that action going on and also lots of cleverness and card fights. The only thing missing for me is the card building parts the MC adds in the main series but all in all this is a dang good book.

World building is great, characters are relatable and believable, and the story itself is also very good. As I said the book is missing a bit of card building aspects and I personally would love to see even more card duels and new cards gain for the party, but that’s just like asking for an extra cherry on my Sunday.

4.5/5 highly recommended, but you do need to read the first 3 books in gobbling summoner to be able to jump to this one.

Didn’t realize it was a spin-off

A spin-off with better characters then the main story line. Problem is that the author has like 4 series and now this… who knows when the next books will come out.

TCG story to rival MTG

I remember being a teen when MTG came out, loved playing it. Loved the books they had as well. This takes TCG storytelling to the next level. This series has been great and this is the first of hopefully many stories that flesh out some of the side characters. Keep the great story telling coming!!! I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review

It's not that it's bad....

So, it's not that the book is necessarily bad but it's very "middle of the road". The plot feels a bit rushed, especially the ending. I feel that a rather more impactful and thrilling ending was available (and even hinted at) but the author kind of just lets the ending fizzle.

Ehh

There are a few typos like when the character is referred to as Jack even though it is Nelson.
I only listen to this because it's a continuation not a spin Off. The gods were located in this region does still need to be activated at some point so the story will come back here. The problem lies in the main character and the support characters. Let's trace Jack back to when he was the lich. When he finally caught up to the Cultists They had A 5 minute conversation where Jack just completely listened to what they were doing and made no attempt to stop their ritual that destroyed the city. I tell you I barely completed that book because of it. I don't like Jack's character at all and he has nothing interesting going for him. It could have been written better and that pretty much describes this whole book. Spoilers...

When your mission essentially has no time limit it makes no sense to send Nelson and his morons back to the teleporter by themselves. They could have had an escort and then they wouldn't have destroyed the teleporter and gotten captured. They have to be the biggest morons ever And not even worth saving.

This entire book can be summed up with the same phrases: One character says something completely obvious Or unnecessary and the next characters say something like "fair point", "that's a good point", "you're not wrong", "he's got a point". ...we get it you agree with the obvious statements. Gareth and company do it too but they are actually entertaining to listening to and funny so you ignore it.

Not only that but almost no time is spent on actually card use or deck building. This could have been a very interesting book with the chance to develop an entirely new deck so we don't get bored of goblins. Instead it was very Boring. I as a rule cannot stand when authors make you listen to a side book in order to get the story or when they create an entire spin off that makes the main story confusing if you don't read it. Not a fan
