What happens when a bad boy becomes a man?
Nate Davis didn't plan on returning to his hateful hometown. But then, he didn't plan on being widowed in his 20s or on his mother getting sick, either. Turns out, life doesn't give a f--k about plans.
Hannah Kabbah thought her career in childcare was over. After all, no one wants a woman with a criminal damage conviction watching their kids. But when her high school crush returns to Ravenswood with two kids in tow, she gets the second chance she never dreamed of.
She also gets to know Nate - the real Nate. The one whose stony exterior hides aching vulnerability. Who makes her smile when she wants to fall apart. Who is way, way more than the bad boy persona he earned so long ago, and way too noble to ever sleep with the nanny.
So it's a good thing she's completely over that teenage crush, right?

Polite and meek...all the things Hannah wasn’t.....she was blunt and forthright.
Nate was a widowed father of two young kids doing the best he can but stressed about everything not within his control.
They went to the same school as kids (and secretly crushed on each other) but it was at least 15 years later before they literally collided into each other’s lives.
Things would never be the same.
She eliminated his stress...unless she was the one causing it. And he made her see her inner and outer beauty...he also was able to make her smile and then eventually laugh...no small feat.
Small town gossip aside, these two, once they were brave enough to acknowledge their feelings for each were pure electricity. The heat and passion was consuming and at the same time the humor was enough to make me laugh out loud.
I loved Hannah and Nate and rooted for them the whole time.
Talia Hibbert has written a mature, funny and sexy book (again!) and the narration by Rupert Channing is everything I wanted.
He managed to effortlessly take Talia’s words and place me firmly in the center of Ravenswood where I cheered on the loved up couple.

They had become friends back in high school when he steps into a situation to stick up for the Kabbah girls being bullied, and had afterwards they both have a crush. He disappeared from the small town before school finished, and each move on with their lives. He returns 10 years later when his mom is unwell, a widow with 2 kids in tow. He is in need of help in the form of a nanny, and she just happens to have the qualifications and need of a job.
My second favourite trope - second chance. Also, small-town. Mixed race. Single father. Picking each other up from depression (the eBook does come with a disclaimer for the trigger warning with depression, but I didn't find that it was overly discussed and shouldn't cause too much triggering the way that Talia worked with it. Very well done).
Loved the way they bantered the entire way through, but sad that they both felt they had to keep the relationship hidden from town... understood because she was working for him as a nanny and they realized everyone in town would gossip and see it as him taking advantage of her in that role, but also because she was "one of those Kabbah girls" and they were seen as Pariahs in town, which is sad. They have hopefully redeemed themselves by the end of these two books!
I can't wait to start book 2 (and the novella that comes between books 1 and 2) very soon. This is an excellent series! I also look forward to reading the Brown Sisters series once I'm finished Ravenswood. I'm very much enjoying Talia Hibbert - a great new-to-me author.
I'm enjoying this series - Glad I discovered Talia

How it was written

The heroine was like no other one I have read . She was real in her narcissism. I liked how she overcame it.
The hero was the kind of supportive man that most women could use in their life.
The story is very well written and told.
Well thought out love story.

I sometimes became frustrated with the self sabotage that the women in the first and second books experienced, even though I understand the psychological /medical reasons why. Otherwise, I was enthralled from beginning to end! As a Black woman married to a White man who utterly worships the ground I walk on, your Ravenswood series so far has been especially relatable. Talia Hibbert, you are so talented and a true artist with your words!
I plan on reading all of your books!
well done! Again!
