I need my own lumberjack

This was such a sweet story with some emotional ups and downs. It is about Lucinda and Henry. Lucinda is a reporter who happens upon a newly discovered DIY video on a social media page of a man named Henry who chops wood in his videos and has been named a lumberjack. Lucinda’s boss wants her to do a story on Henry so she flies out to where she discovered on her own where he is located at least the state. Once there in the state she stays at a Bed and Breakfast and asks the lady owner if she might know any lumberjacks because she wants to know the history behind the trade. The owner sends her to a hardware store where she believes they may have some more information. So she visits hardware store and is given Henry’s address but they don’t know she’s a reporter. Henry is a very private person so when she goes to find him she’s confronted by his pet wolf and she is scared then Henry shows up and asks what she’s doing there, she then introduces herself as a reporter and he asks her to leave but before that happens Lucinda faints from all the stress of the rejection and Henry catches her. I will stop there and let you listen for the rest yourself. This was such an emotional well paced romance story. The narrator had a southern accent so he fit in with Henry. This was a fast listen as well. And the plot thickens toward the second half of the story and there is a twist near the end. I just wish the story was longer. I would recommend this story to fans of the Author and to those that enjoy lumberjack or country style (not cowboy) romances with strong lead characters.

Untamed

Toni Goode wrote a great book. Gerald Allison did a wonderful job on the narration. The story is heartfelt, beautiful and sweet. it has passion in it. I did get the book for free for a honest review.

Emotional story

This was more emotional than I had anticipated. Doesn't mean it was bad, just isn't what I generally expect in a lumberjack story. The characters were developed wonderfully and it was great getting to see them grow/change throughout the book. The story itself was really good. I'm glad to be able to report it does have a good ending, but I would have really liked a little more at the end ... Maybe an epilogue giving us a glimpse of their future and Henry's continued improvements figuring his demons. While these are not triggers for me, I do feel it's important to mention that topics including PTSD, suicide & alcohol as a coping mechanism are touched on. Ii read this as an audiobook & I'm pretty sure it's the first time hearing this narrator. He did a good job, but there was sometime about his voice that made me have to slow down the speed in usually listen at in order not to have trouble t following the story. I really can't quite identify what it was... his words were clear, not mumbled or anything like that... maybe it was a hint of an accent?? I normally listen at 1.7 for the speed but had to reduce it to 1.2. It wasn't a really big deal, just thought I would mention it.

nice story

This was my first lumberjack themed book. The story was interesting theme behind it. The MMC accidentally posts videos online, he gets a huge following unknowingly. Journalists FMC wants to launch her career off him as a story. There is an unknown child situation with another woman that is brought up towards the end of the book. I found the wolf companion adorable. The pushy journalist who is only concerned for the story side was believable. This is an open door romance with the spice on the milder side which seems to fit the characters personalities throughout the story. The story gets darker at the end of the book due to mental health but with HEA. The narrator with the audio you could hear his mouth breathing pretty loudly which was distracting but did not take away from the story.

Great listen.

I really enjoyed listening to this story. I liked the characters and storyline very much. Totally worth the listen.

Uneven Heartbeats

Untamed Hearts sets up a compelling premise: Henry, a reclusive lumberjack with PTSD, finds viral fame and unexpected romance when Lucinda, an ambitious journalist, tracks him down. Their chemistry is strong, the setting is atmospheric, and there are moments of real tenderness. Gerald Allison’s narration matches the tone of the story, though it sometimes feels more like reading than performing.

Unfortunately, the story falters with confusing time jumps and a jarring late twist involving a suicide attempt that wasn't expected. The emotional beats don’t always land, and one uncomfortable double standard in an early drunk scene raised eyebrows. While the book has potential and some sweet moments, the lack of clarity and sensitivity make it hard to fully recommend.

The story is beautiful and so sweet. Overcoming the odds one is faced with is such a sweet way to end the story.

Great Characters – But a messy plot

This story took an unexpected and unpleasant turn, which caught me by surprise. It felt like two separate stories merged together in a way that wasn’t entirely cohesive. With a bit more refinement, I think it could have been a truly great read. I liked both main characters, though I wasn’t a fan of one particular choice made by the female lead. That said, I was happy to see a happily-ever-after ending - kind of. Can you say cliffhanger?

Good Romance

This is a good, unique romance story. This is a sweet story that contains the right abount of spice.

Story is good but Narration could be better

I’ll admit, I was a bit skeptical at first—reclusive lumberjack meets ambitious journalist sounds like a cliché setup, right? But wow, "Untamed Hearts" totally sucked me in! It’s not just about the romance; it’s about two people navigating their personal demons and finding a way to heal, which made it feel so much more layered than I expected. I seriously couldn't stop listening once I started.

I have to give 3 stars for the narration by Gerald Allison. While he does an okay job overall, some parts felt a little flat. He nailed Henry’s rugged, introverted vibe, but Lucinda’s character could’ve used a bit more emotional range in my opinion. His pacing was good though, and he kept me engaged, but there were times I wished for more energy or passion in the delivery.
