Historia
A powerful, moving memoir - and a practical guide to healing - written by Dr. Edith Eva Eger, an eminent psychologist whose own experiences as a Holocaust survivor help her treat patients and allow them to escape the prisons of their own minds. The Choice weaves Eger's personal story with case studies from her work as a psychologist. Her patients and their stories illustrate different phases of healing and show how people can choose to escape the prisons they construct in their minds and find freedom, regardless of circumstance.

Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

Historia
The causes of Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder range from severe neglect to monstrous abuse. Many survivors grew up in houses that were not homes-in families that were as loveless as orphanages and sometimes as dangerous. If you felt unwanted, unliked, rejected, hated, and/or despised for a lengthy portion of your childhood, trauma may be deeply engrained in your mind, soul, and body. This book is a practical guide to recovering from lingering childhood trauma. It is copiously illustrated with examples of the author's and his clients' journeys of recovering.

Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Most people don't realize how much unresolved emotional pain they carry around. They don't know why they always feel depressed, anxious, victimized, or disappointed. Many people associate spiritual activities with religion, but sometimes performing spiritual activities is a self-help practice to help a person improve their mental and emotional health. In a nonreligious concept, spirituality emphasizes well-being. This can include holistic activities such as meditation or yoga. Spirituality seeks a connection with something greater than yourself, which can lead to positive emotions such as peace, wonder, contentment, gratitude, and acceptance. If you are eager to get in touch with your soul, carrying out spiritual activities can be of great help.

It's pernicious...it's diabolical...it creeps into every moment of our lives. It influences our relationships, impacts our physical body, works its way into our conversations, sparks non-nourishing behaviors, and forces us to do things we'd never want to do. It's infectious; it's relentless.... It's stress! We all know it. We all experience it. It's the human condition - but through this audiobook, you will learn to transcend it.

Historia
Behind our stress, clutter, and confusion is an infinitely spacious place one might call stillness or joy. This is our natural state of being, but we usually don’t experience it, because we are caught in a web of material possessions, desires, and fears. Our clutter often becomes another member of the family that we feed, house, and lug around. In Your Spacious Self, author and professional space clearing expert Stephanie Bennett Vogt shows us that it’s not our stuff but the holding on to it that creates a force field of stuck-ness that clouds our perceptions and paralyzes our lives.

Everything I needed to hear
I listened to this book on my daily commutes to work and it is by far one of the better narrators I've listened to. Through the telling of her stories and ideas for opportunities to grow as a person, it has helped me to reflect on the things I can do to help me through difficult days. The fact that the author is candid and so forth coming with her personal story allowed me to embrace the ideas she was sharing for personal growth. If your looking for an honest book with powerful insight for how to help yourself through trauma this is definitely a good read!
