Difficult to review

When I first started the first book, I almost put it down. I felt like the conversations were very fake and the language used to call items were not American. I immediately knew the author wasn’t American: it didn’t help that the female narrator is very stilted and robotic and her male voices were non existent. I continued to listen and thoroughly enjoyed the storyline throughout all 3 books: I still struggled with the female narrator as well as the conversation formality. During the second and third book, the female narrator seemed to relax and was a lot less stilted however her male voice was still non existent. The male narrator was good. No complaint and it seemed like the chapters he read flowed smoother. I still had issues with the conversation language and formality between the main characters. It seems like they should have been historical romance conversations put in the modern time. I didn’t notice it as much when the male narrator spoke.

So overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the storyline… the relationships and characters. And I enjoyed the development of the plot. It was just obvious from the beginning that the author wasn’t American and struggled with the dialect and how Americans speak such as she would go to the “powder room”. I would have enjoyed having more definition between male and female voices to make it easier to follow and would have enjoyed the narrator more during the first book if she read it as she did the second two.
