The consolation of Tim and Cynthias new marriage, and the terror of being lost in the cave brings new dimension to their relationship. While the introduction of Lace Turners character further exposes us to the evils of child abuse, and still the discovery of Dooleys mother, Pauline Barlow, introduces hope of restoration and forgiveness.. Dear Sadie Baxters demise is countered by the ongoing encouragement of Hope House and the blessings it will bring to many in the future of Mitford, especially as we meet it's. new Chaplain .

Forget what anyone else says about the reader

I almost didn't start this series because of the negative comments about the reader. I'm so glad I tried it out. I really can't imagine what the complaint is. I read that he was "too slow" and I disagree entirely. The writing is clever and descriptive and the reading reflects that. Don't miss these books because of those comments!

I continue to be delighted with the reader and how he brings out the depth of the characters. The writing has such thoughtful depth.

Yes, and no. Hard to turn off, and yet I wanted it to last forever.

Any additional comments?

If you've not read Jan Karon's Mitford stories, start at the beginning and be prepared to be swept away. On my most frazzled days, these stories can soothe my soul. These characters become friends almost instantly. Father Tim has had a profound impact on my life. If Mitford existed, with Father Tim still living in the rectory or the little yellow house next door, I’d be arranging for moving trucks right now!

A lovely rest

I have enjoyed all of Jan Karon books yet when I was diagnosed with cancer she has been.my go to during recovery from major surgery and chemo off and on for the.last three years. The uplifting yet down to earth writing is a breath of fresh air and I eagerly await her next book. I feel blessed and wanted to pass this blessing along. Read them and enjoy.

I never get tired of listening and re-listening to these books and John McDonough’s narration! I listen to the series all the way through every few years. It’s a vacation away from everyday problems and some of the best sermons I’ve heard.
