Resumen del Editor

The Writing Revolution (TWR) provides a clear method of instruction that you can use no matter what subject or grade level you teach. The model, also known as The Hochman Method, has demonstrated, over and over, that it can turn weak writers into strong communicators by focusing on specific techniques that match their needs and by providing them with targeted feedback.

Insurmountable as the challenges faced by many students may seem, TWR can make a dramatic difference. And the method does more than improve writing skills. It also helps boost reading comprehension, improve organizational and study skills, enhance speaking abilities, and develop analytical capabilities.

TWR is as much a method of teaching content as it is a method of teaching writing. There's no separate writing block and no separate writing curriculum. Instead, teachers of all subjects adapt the TWR strategies and activities to their current curriculum and weave them into their content instruction.

But perhaps what's most revolutionary about the TWR method is that it takes the mystery out of learning to write well. It breaks the writing process down into manageable chunks and then has students practice the chunks they need, repeatedly, while also learning content.

Volume inconsistent

There were lots of sound inconsistencies. It would be so quiet that I would turn it up to hear, and then so loud we would be blown away. The content of this book was clear and well organized.

excellent, thorough, step-by-step process

I love this book; I love this concept. The process is laid out in a step-by-step manner. It's interesting to consider this teaching writing (and therefore also thinking) method can be applied at any grade level. I will be using this in my high school English classes, starting slowly as I develop my skills in this program. My ongoing frustration has beens how to meet the students where they are , especially the one with low level skills, and bring them up to proficiency. I've known the gaps were there, but wasn't clear on a way to bridge those gaps. From what I understand from this book, the rigor comes from the content of what is being written about. Students can learn the skills and begin applying them at their own levels. Brilliant, just brilliant.
😃 I had bought the hard copy and had it delivered to me near the end of my vacation with family in another state shortly before the start of school this year. In order to start my learning, I purchased the audible.com version. The Audible version was my companion/teacher for much of the eleven hour drive back home. I am delighted to have both versions. And, a shout out to UnboundEd and the talks from their Standards Institute for including information about this book somewhere amongst their vast reservoir of resources.

Immensely Useful

Although I think highly of the content of this book, I think it will serve the listener better as a physical book, rather than an audiobook. That's because contains explicit instructions on how to implement its technique, which is more useful when you're actually trying to do that, rather than just trying to get the gist of the concepts, as I was. I stopped listening 4 hours short of the end, because I was getting bored, but I'm not a teacher in a classroom, so the content wasn't immediately useful to me. I likely will buy the physical book someday.

Based on the content of the book, I probably should revise the above review to make it flow more smoothly, but...screw it.

Brilliant, systematic instructional approach

Absolutely fantastic content. I will purchase the print book as well, but I appreciated how even the templates and forms felt accessible through the audiobook format.
