Resumen del Editor

Haughty Lady Helen Radney is one of London's most beautiful women, and the daughter of a duke, but her sharp tongue has frightened away most of her suitors. When her father gambles away his fortune, the duke's only chance for recouping his losses lies in marrying off Lady Helen to any man wealthy enough to take a bride with nothing to recommend her but a lovely face and an 800-year-old pedigree.

Enter Mr. Ethan Brundy: once an illegitimate workhouse orphan, now owner of a Lancashire textile mill and one of England's richest men. When he glimpses Lady Helen at Covent Garden Theatre, he is instantly smitten and vows to marry her. But this commonest of commoners will have his work cut out for him if he hopes to win the heart of his aristocratic bride.

Refreshing

What a well written and thoroughly entertaining story. I fell in love with Ethan the hero...not your usual storybook hero, but oh so nice!

Almost 5 stars

Great story! Love it! Unfortunately, some poor decisions on the heroine's part beginnings in chapter 12 or 13 had me downgrade it a bit. Excellent performance, in spite of some minor slip ups.

Weaver's Wife

Love the story, but not the narrator. He made Lady 'elen sound like aged cranky dowager.

Charming, sweet & heartwarming

It was a real feel-good experience, with expressive narration. I liked that none of the characters were perfect, I actually hated the female protagonist a little in the beginning. Still, I was crossing my fingers all the way for things to work out between the hero and heroine. Looking forward to read the next book.

Lovable Hero! Progressively changing heroine!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Weaver Takes a Wife to be better than the print version?

I haven't read the printed version, but I can now imagine what Ethan's voice would sound like.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Ethan Brundy because of his steadfastness.

Which character – as performed by Noah Michael Levine – was your favorite?

I thought he did the voice for Ethan Brundy very well. He made you cringe on Ethan's behalf when he dropped his "H's" in conversation with polite society.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Taming of the shrew.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this book and am glad to know there is a sequel and plan to read it. I liked the fact that Ethan Brundy wasn't the typical hero, handsome, witty, well-dressed, always in command of his situation. That is more like his rival for his wife's attention, Lord Waverly. Instead, he is solid, honest, knows his own mind, and has tremendous patience to achieve his goal of winning the love of the wife who married him only for his money. He's not perfect, because his jealousy for his wife causes him to make a spectacle of himself, which only shows that he also has a passionate nature as well.

Lady Helen Radney isn't someone you like at first, haughty, full of self-importance, and materialistic. She is a Duke's daughter, but is given the choice to marry the humble Ethan or get a job. Of course she marries him and treats him in a very shrewish, insulting manner, even though she should owe him a great deal of gratitude for helping her noble but destitute family. However, his patience, kindness and generous soul brings out the best in her. She begins to see her husband with different "eyes" and makes some serious mistakes because she doesn't trust what she has come to learn about him.

When I began listening, I couldn't stop because I had to find out who changes the most in this relationship.

Simply Wonderful

This was truly a romance novel and remarkably narrated. It kept my interest from beginning to end. I wish it had been longer and I would have loved it even more if we could have gotten a more detailed look at their coupling.
WELL DONE! I will be looking for more from Sheri Cobb South. This was my first read from her.

Such a delightful story

I thoroughly enjoyed the book. The story was great and the husband was such a sweet character. Although Helen was not likable at the beginning, the story really captures the transformation over time. The narrator was great but I thought Helen’s character sounded more like an older woman than someone as young as Helen but once I got use to it, it did not bother me that much.
