Resumen del Editor

He kept his salacious secret for years. But soon, everyone is going to be reading about it in their morning paper....

The Varlet (and the Voyeur)

William Moore is a long way from home. A farm boy from Oklahoma, he's now the most well-respected member of the Irish rugby team. But appearances are often deceptive, and Will isn't the clean-cut, all-American good guy everyone imagines him to be. He's got a secret, one that will tarnish his reputation forever.

The Voyeur (and the Varlet)

Josey Kavanagh is a self-proclaimed mess, but she's finally getting her shi...uh, act together. She's set her sights on becoming a veterinarian, but there's one teeny tiny road bump. Her living arrangements are coming to an abrupt end, leaving Josey homeless and in need of a job to pay her way through college.

The Plan

What he needs is a companion to keep him on the right path. What she needs is an apartment with free rent. Will is convinced Josey will make the perfect companion, since she's brutally honest and basically "just one of the guys". Josey is convinced she can ensure Will doesn't succumb to his voyeuristic proclivities by keeping a scrupulous eye on him.

Except, what happens when the varlet is tempted by the voyeur, and vice versa?! Perchance something very, very volatile. And vexing.

The Varlet and the Voyeur is a full-length romantic comedy novel, can be listened to as a stand-alone, and is the fourth (and last) book in the USA Today best-selling Rugby series.

Hard to finish

The story was fine. But the female narration drove me crazy! She rushes everything! It didn't matter if I slowed the speed or not, I felt like she literally was uncomfortably speed reading the book. I wanted so badly to skip to the male parts to redeem my attention.

The Narration Really Ruins It For Me

I've read the E-book and the story is great! However, the narration in this book is really lacking.

Paul Corning has a great voice and it makes sense to have an American narrator for an American character. However, it totally kills it for me that he doesn't even attempt an Irish accent for any of the Irish characters. This book is predominantly set in Ireland--there should definitely be Irish accents. Especially since the previous male narrator for the series was so fantastic.

And, Jennifer O'Brien wasn't nearly as good as the previous narrator for the previous two books. It's really a shame, because I thoroughly enjoyed reading the E-book and had hoped the audiobook would be just as good.

It's an okay audiobook, but would recommend the E-book instead.

Bad Narration.

Good story with what I could stand to listen to.
The male narrator was o.k. but did not do accents and if you listen to all the book together it's a real let down.
The female narrator was just awful. I might have been able to finish this book if it wasn't for her narration.
I listened to all 4 books in a row. First 3 were great.

Loved the story, hated the narration.

I love all Penny Reid stories, but I almost couldn't finish this one. The narration was incredibly horrible. It the series, the characters had a great Irish accent, then suddenly they had none in this book. And the female narrator was the worst I've ever heard.

Excruciating Female Narrator

I think this book is one that would have been much more enjoyable if I read it myself, or with better narration. The story was a little far fetched, but I gave it a chance, and it wasn't bad. The male narrator was excellent, but his excellence only highlighted how terrible the female was. So bad. She sounds like a preschool teacher reading a storybook. All high-pitched and cutesy, with strange emphasis and inflection. She made it very hard to finish this otherwise enjoyable book.

Great story -- hint: slowing the speed helps

The female narrator is likely wonderful at reading children's books -- but probably shouldn't read an x-rated scene with the same cadence. The producers speeded up her voice for some reason, because when I slowed it down it was more tolerable. The book was sweet and hilarious at times, but the performance took away from it.

This series rocked...

However, in this final of the series, I was disappointed with the immaturity of the h. Just irritating. I connected with the H way more, he just made sense.

Really enjoyed Paul Corning, wish he had more audiobooks than 3. I was put off with Jen, she came across as almost robotic. Still, I wish there were more books in this series ❤️

Cute story. However...

After reading all of the other reviews about the narrators, specifically how terrible the female was, I was worried about listening to this audiobook. But I decided to listen anyway, and here’s what I think: the guy was great. Sure, he doesn’t do accents, but that didn’t bother me. Hers, though...she was hard to listen to. Very difficult. The character she was reading was supposed to be annoying, chatty, and all around odd, so the female narrator hit that nail on the head. But the way she read, not taking a breath between sentences, drove me insane. And listening to her read through the sex scenes was ridiculous. I’m glad I listened because the story was adorable and I loved Will, but thank God it’s over now.

Great story, narration not so much

I loved the story line. The female narrator sounded as if she was rushing through the reading instead of keeping a slower pace and emphasizing certain words or phrases. I felt like she was speed reading instead of narrating a story. When the male narrator spoke it seemed like two different stories. During the intimate scenes, it was not good at all. At the end of the story, it seemed the female narrator slowed down some, however it might be due to me being used to her fast speech. I also think the reason the hero and heroine got together was summed up too quickly and nicely, which was eerie. I almost expected the epilogue to be about further retaliation. Maybe that was done on purpose. Otherwise the story line was a good one and somewhat entertaining.

Bad Female Voice Actress

I would have probably enjoyed the story better if the female voice actress wasnt so terrible. I've definitly heard worse voice actors, but she sounded like she had no idea what she was doing. She was reading like an inexperienced person would read a bedtime story to a child. The male voice actor was good except that he couldn't do irish accents.
