Worth the time

I am curious about the mystical experiences of people, and how they interpret their experiences. This book covers the author’s youthful encounters with both formal religion and his own visions, and how these influenced his adult spiritual quests. It was easy to listen to, engaging, and kept my interest. The reading was homespun, read by the author, and I found that acceptable and perhaps less distracting than a more dramatic reading by a “professional.” The material is good, so if you are interested in such matters you will probably enjoy this book.

Although slow-paced at first, this book succeeded in teaching me a great lot. Not only it can be seen as an introduction to eastern philosophy but it mixes those with western ideas. Jesus Christ, his life and message, play a significant role in the ideology of the author.

Put on your speakers and relax while this 9-hour long journey begins. You will explore the author's life with fun facts and decisions that made him the man he is today. Then, get ready to travel deep into the Japanese jungle where you will learn more about retreats, shamans, and spirituality. After that, the real lesson begins.

Although the book may appear over-complicated from a beginner, do not let distract you from the fact that it can be used as a quick and coherent guide to other dimensions of consciousness.

True Spiritual Enlightenment Experience

I have truly enjoyed the experience of listening to this book. Having gone thru spiritual awareness myself, Haight touched the real expectations of becoming oneself. His teachings long with his personal experiences brought the spiritual awakening journey to a wonderful enlightenment. His ability to express the life challenges he over came through his unrelenting faith in Source Energy was astounding. Reading this book helped me realize how I can use my awakening to further advance my journey and those I associate with in my journey.

It was just ok

I liked the stories but the book itself was a bit dull and kind of confusing for me. I just found it ok and didn’t feel like I learned anything from it

This path is unavoidable for all. Richard takes you on his journey that affects all. Great read.

Upon hearing this story, it seems that He has encountered an entity that is far beyond the description of what any religious book has described. And by experiencing this phenomenon, he started a journey of spiritual discovery within himself to draw more conclusions and understanding of himself and the world around him

Very Knowledgeable and Insightful

The book was very knowledgeable and insightful. The stories and storytelling was inspiring and enjoyable to list to. I particularly like the construction of the book and how it was put into 4 parts. However, it was a bit long. Longer in my opinion than it should have been.

An Enlightening Journey Across A Visionary Life

After undergoing tribal initiations with visionary plants in the jungle, embracing samurai arts, studying ancient lineages, and experiencing a deeply transformative encounter with the divine, Haight undoubtedly has many worthwhile experiences to share. As a clinician myself, I am personally driven by what the logical mind can define and what science can prove, but there is no doubt this author has found his ideal truths as well!

I feel this book would be appropriate for anyone curious about spiritual development, with an interest in purpose-driven life techniques and concepts. Despite being effectively presented and exhaustively researched, I felt it was lengthier than necessary and belabored certain points. I question whether the deeply spiritual associations and visions might be too conceptually abstract for many readers or doubting skeptics to comfortably grasp, but overall, this is quite the tale of triumph and discovery!

Wonderful gem of a book

This is my first review on Audible and I am quite taken with this book. I felt "led" to The Unbound Soul and in it I found Richard's experience to be an authentic one indeed. I know truth when I hear it and his story is told from a very humble standpoint which I find refreshing and is the sign of a master teacher. This book will give the reader tools for spiritual growth in a very easy way to understand and he is very thorough, which I appreciate. The author gives detailed instruction on how to acheive balance in life through introspection and the discarding of belief systems borne of the mind as the way to "is-ness" or no mind. A mind free from concepts and judgements and chatter and, therefore, is about freedom from the bondage of self via letting go of fixed ideas and concepts so that one can live in a truly free and fulfilling way. I have not doubt, that I will listen to this book with as much reverence and freqency as I do when I listen to or read about Taoism (which is weekly). Thank you Richard for the time and energy it took to write this and for the gift you have given me with your wise words and life story.
