Quick read that had many holes

Enjoyable and a quick read!
The story line is truly a happy ever after sexy fairy tale!
It would of been good to explain where the butler came from and was he human at one time! Why his mother aged and why she treated her son badly!! Where was vampire dad!
This could of easily been a full length book!!

Great love prevails evil.

such raw passion and power but yet tender. no sacrifice is too much. get ready!

Pretty good for a short story

Although reminiscent of a BDB vampire this seems to be a complete stand-alone not associated with the series.
Those of us who read BDB and are familiar with Ward's vampires will find this an easy entertaining read with no need for a backstory. Others should enjoy it as well and may find it an interesting introduction to Ward's world.

Because of the nature of short stories, I find it hard to ever rate them more than 3.5 stars, but with this being an audible it gets an overall of 4.

Unique Novela

I hope this story is expounded on. Would like for the Brotherhood to find him and expose him to his vampire side.

SO SWEET!

The only thing I disliked was that it wasn't longer. I wanted more of these 2. I was hoping they'd run into the brotherhood. I wanted to know why the mother would allow this to happen to her son...I totally know it's a novella, but I'm greedy for another JR Ward masterpiece!

JR’s characters and story were excellent as always. I wouldn’t have bought such a short book if I hadn’t already trusted the author.

I've read all of her black Dagger Brotherhood series, and I just love her style of writing. She is an amazing writer. Jim Fragione is an outstanding narrator. I highly recommend reading any and all of her books.

We need more!

Please say there will be more Michael, Claire and let’s not forget about the kids in the distant near future!!! We need to know all about Michael’s past and how they could possibly be tied into the BDB series!

This novella by J.R. Ward was rather interesting. I quite enjoyed it although it leaves both the reader and characters with unanswered questions. That’s a bit disappointing. I had wished to learn more of Michael’s beginnings.

I love how the story ended. There was definitely a few twists that I wasn’t expecting.

As a long time reader of Ward’s I found this story a bit frustrating. It’s a vampire romance although it’s not part of her Black Dagger Brotherhood series. Or is it? The bulk of the story takes place in Caldwell NY which is where the BDB series is set. Plus Michael’s powers seem to be the same as the vampire powers in that world. However Michael himself is different than the vampires of that world and in fact would not be alive if he was a vampire from the BDB universe. Frankly? It’s just confusing.

Jim Frangione is one of the OG narrators of today’s age. He’s been around for a while now and is beloved by many. I’ve always liked his narration but he’s never been a favorite of mine. He doesn’t really do voices for the characters which is what I prefer. I found that this time around he had more pronunciation mistakes in his performance than usual.
