It is not just the sea and the weather which tries to kill them; it is the animals in the land that they find and it is the Skraeling, the natives who see them as a threat from the east. The clan flees danger but finds more in this new world in the west.
When divisions emerge in the clan then it seems as though they are doomed to die in this savage wilderness.

Great story.
loved this saga, one of the best viking sagas i have read. The storyline was very good, and was narrated nicely, would recomend to everyone.

Vikings in North America
Since learning of the voyage of Leif Erickson, I have been intrigued by the story of Europeans exploring the New World four hundred years before Columbus. Reading this series, I have been engrossed in the characters and the desire of the clan of the fox to to escape from under the thumb of oppression. This third book in the series focused on the time spent on the islands off the mainland of NorthEast America. A warmer climate, abundance of food, and brutality greeted these sea farers from across the the frozen sea. The narration was excellent and I look forward to the conclusion of this epic story.
