Smart, surprising story!

Very enjoyable book - strongly written characters who are funny and real, and a number of story elements that surprised (and delighted) me with the direction they took. Highly recommend!

Great romance!

I read a lot of romances and this is the best one I’ve read in a long time. I loved everyone of the characters. This is the first book I’ve read by this author and now I am going to read all of the others. Yay, I’m excited.! oh, I mustn’t forget that the narrator was fantastic. I’ll be looking up her other books as well.

Plot Relies on Miscommunication

I like the Irish settings, accents, and cultural details. I didn’t like that it took three and a half hours before the main character revealed a critical fact to her potential partner (and even longer to the supporting characters). This was also her obstacle for most of the rest of the story: not telling people the truth up front but instead hemming and hawing like an anxious teen rather than a professional thirty-something. The other characters kept saying what a confident go-getter she was, but that isn’t how she acted, although she did finally show some chutzpah in the end and occasional humor. I liked the male character more, although he was a bit broody and not very communicative himself.

The narrator read with expression, but sometimes it was difficult to know which character was speaking. She managed several different accents skillfully, though.

I listened to another book by this author that I enjoyed more. “Snowed In”

charming with realistic characters

I was surprised by this one! Loved the characters, they all felt very real. The interactions between the sisters especially felt very authentic. It was a nice burn without too much angst and some nice lessons. I would choose this author again.
