The Rebel is the second book in The Kingmaker’s series. It’s a mafia forbidden romance set in an Academia setting.

Miles and Zoe…. Sigh!! These two are GOALS!! Trapped in an arranged marriage deal, Zoe is terrified for the life that awaits her with Rocco after Kingmaker’s. Cruel and callous, Rocco sees Zoe as nothing more as a means to power.

The Rebel is the second book in the Kingmakers series. This book is told from three POVs, Miles Griffin, Zoe Romera, and Zoe's sister, Cat.

Zoe is in an arranged marriage to someone who is not a good guy. He does things to Zoe to humiliate her in front of everyone. Miles will do anything to take Zoe away from her future fiancée.

We also get Cat's perspective. She will do whatever she can so her sister can have her happy ending.

Can Zoe get away from her abuser? Can she have a happy ending with Miles? How does Cat play into their story?

I really enjoyed this book, and can't wait to see how Cat's story plays out.

Worth The Credit!

If I could give this more than fifteen stars then I would do it in a heartbeat. Speaking of heart beats, my heart was put through so many emotions reading this book. I believe this is one of Sophie‘s best books ever! I know. I say that every time I write a review of one of her books. That just means she is freaking awesome and gets better and better every time.

I thought I liked Leo and Anna, but Miles and Zoe? Oh. My. Goodness! I always liked him because he is just a perfect mix of his mom and dad, who are my favorite literary couple ever. Callum is my book boyfriend, and Aida is just awesome! The first time Miles actually meets Zoe, we get to see a kinder and heroic side of him. My favorite thing about Zoe is that she loves her sister unconditionally and will do anything to protect her.

There was so much happening in this book that there were times when I was crying my eyes out, angry enough to want to throw my phone across the room, or was shocked out of my mind by the actions of a few characters. Can I just say now that Cat is AWESOME! I love her the most, but don’t get me started about Dean, who has been my favorite bad guy since the beginning of the series. He didn’t disappoint in this book. I want his audiobook NOW! 🤣

I loved all three narrators, but the girl who narrate Cat’s voice takes the prize!

Sophie knows how to tell a story. You can tell that she does so much research when she writes a book because you totally get a history lesson. I love her work so much.

I really enjoyed this book!

I now just want a book about Miles and Zoe in LA, I feel like their adventures would.be so fun to read about

Book 2 - can be standalone

This is book 2 in Lark's Kingmakers series and can be read as a standalone. This is a college coming of age romance read that is full of twists and turns. Dark themes and told from multiple points of view. This romance is well written and captivating from start to finish with our main characters being Zoe and Miles. Zoe is betrothed to a monster and Miles will have to sacrifice everything for her. I loved the mafia ties and the violence that made this so dark and I love Zoe's dedication to the ones she loves and her willingness to sacrifice to protect them. Zoe's sister Kat has her eyes opened and tons of character growth and Miles...I adore his carefree persona that is really just a front for the ruthless things he'll do to protect those he loves as well. Beautifully narrated and great storyline.

Can I just say how much I love Miles in this story! He has so much depth & I love seeing all the layers.
Zoe & Cat both grow so much this year too!

FAVORITE SERIES

I have been patiently... okay, impatiently...waiting for this audiobook to be released! This is my review after reading it TWICE...

It took reading it twice, but it is my favorite. I thought the Spy was it, but this one just grabs me now. I didn't review after the first read because I was caught up with three focal characters. It bothered me that Zoe and Miles didn't get the all the page time. I wanted more of THEM. As much as I enjoyed the story, and I liked Cat A LOT, I was divided. Rereading this series all together has been perfect. Even KNOWING what would happen, I had all the feels...the pain, the anger, the jitters, the content, the hope, the fear, the excitement, the joy. Such good writing by Sophie Lark. Reading the series is a must.

I will also say listening to the series is a must as well! Lily Drake, Jeffrey Holz, and Maeve York are excellent narrators. They brought this book to life. It was running like a movie in my head. I didn't want to pause it. Their performances were perfection!!

Great read

I enjoyed this book but a little disappointed that Zoey got weak at the end. Now Cat!!! Oh man!!! Can’t wait for her book! Jeffrey Holz, Maeve & Lily Drake did an amazing job at narrating.

Not a shocker that I jumped on the chance to review this audio since I'm OBSESSED with this author and series!!

Narrated by Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York & Lilly Drake. All of these narrators are new to me and I thought their voices matched the age group well. I will definitely be on the look out for their names on the future.

If you're familiar with Sophie Lark you know Kingmakers is the 2nd generation books of the Brutal Birthright series..

Holy s%$t this book got dark from the get go. Rocco is the sole heir to his father's kingdom and betrothed to Zoey, eldest daughter and pawn to her father. Her younger sister, Cat, is an unfortunate bystander to this deadly contract and forced to attend Kingmakers with Zoey.

If you read book 1 you've already met most of the players in this book. Miles is the wheeler and dealer of the island, amassing his fortune so he can branch out on his own. If you want or need something you can't get, he's the one you go to. He's got a zero f$cks to give attitude and doesn't get involved zin anyone else's lives, even his family’s who also attend.
That all changes after seeing Zoey get attacked. His 'don't get involved' attitude quickly becomes 'save the girl at any cost'..

Loved Cat as much, if not more, than Zoey. Her character had the most growth and potential and I can't wait to see what her next year at Kingmakers will be like!!

This book was intense, fast paced, and had me listening from start to finish in 2 days! 11 hours of audio and it felt like a couple hours because it was that good!!

For fans who are already invested in this series, guess who plays an important role in this book?? Your favorite bad guy!!

Lets just say I've lost all chill waiting on book 3 to come to audio!!! Well played Sophie Lark!!!

Captivating!

This is the second book in the Kingmakers series. Miles and Zoe's story is intense, complex, and captivating. Miles is such an amazing character, handsome, determined, and protective. Zoe is beautiful, naive, and strong. Cat, Zoe's sister, is an amazing character. The storyline is intriguing, suspenseful, and enthralling, filled with danger, mystery, secrets, and twists and turns. The supporting characters are great. The story ends with a great opening to The Bully, Dean and Cat's story, the next book in the series. Jeffrey Holz, Maeve York, and Lily Drake did a fantastic job with the narration. They are perfect as Miles, Zoe and Cat. Looking forward to listening to The Bully, the next book in the series. If you like Dark Romance, this series is for you. #TheFlock
