Acerca de esta escucha
“As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few. The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods. The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.” - Harrington Emerson
Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of training decisions to be made when working with a horse? Should you speed up, slow down, turn left, turn right? What transition should you make next? Which body part should you move where?
What if you didn’t need to memorize a million techniques and scenarios, but just needed to understand the principles at play in each situation?

Did you know there is an area of your brain known as the "Lizard Brain" that thinks only about the immediate moment and your means of survival? Yes, in certain circumstances, your "Rational Brain" can effectively "shut down" and you are at the mercy of a reptile... dry-mouthed, sweating, queasy, unable to think clearly - even though you know better. When does the Lizard Brain run the show? It can happen in any number of unfamiliar, uncomfortable, challenging, or "stressful" riding situations. But here's the thing: with the right kind of training, you can learn to manage the reptile within.

Among the earliest known works on choosing, caring for, and riding horses, this book is still hailed--2,300 years after it was written - as one of the most complete, thoughtful, and accessible guides of its type. Civilization has changed radically in the centuries since it was written, but the equestrian arts have remained essentially the same. Much of what we presently accept as common wisdom about horsemanship derives from this volume.

Astonished, Monty realized that he could train horses by using their language, speaking to them in ways that would form trust and understanding. The principles of training
A few months ago, I started volunteering at a horse rescue. Many of them were taken from an abusive situation. I knew not much on how to care or train a horse, all I had to offer was great respect and admiration and love for them. Being around them was a dream come true. This book not only helped me with the self-confidence in myself, but it also showed me how to help a horse in the most caring and kind way, especially with them coming into our rescue in a very delicate state. This book has showed me how to work with them, so one day they can be adopted and live up to their fullest potential. I will definitely recommend this book and keep it as a reference at the top of my list of great books.

I love this
This is the key to everything I need to know about training my horses. It is based on The Dorrance and Hunt philosophy and weaves in the Talent Code. Brilliant.

Easy to understand & great information!
Highly recommend this book to any horse owner! Everything is broken down in ways you’ll remember and understand; as everything is related to life. Enhances horsemanship, techniques, and your overall understanding of why a horse does something. Start to finish was a wonderful book!

This book is a Must for anyone who wants a better connection with horses!!
Warwicks principals are easy to follow and understand. After subscribing to his on line course, I was able to understand my horse much better and our connection became much stronger. I will listen to this book a few times, as I will get something different from it each time I hear it.
Loved being able to listen to this Fabulous book instead of actually reading it. I could drive, do housework, ect. The computer generated voice wasn’t half bad. There were a few hiccups, but overall I was impressed.
I’m truly Grateful for all of Warwicks insight and wisdom.
I would Highly recommend this book to any one wanting to have a better connection with horses!

Wonderful connection between the science of mammal behavior, the heart connection and the intention of energy!
What an excellent compilation of Warwick’s pillars of training and his open, conscious, and astute way of working with horses and their people.
As an experienced horse person and professional in the industry, I have gone through some very profound changes over the last several years. My mare brought me to this place, as if she was the divine intervention that I needed to catapult my changes in my relationship with my animals and it also led to changes in human relationships too. I have recommended this book to all my horse friends. I do agree with him, that his last chapter really should be the first chapter. But at the same time, it is quite poignant to be the last chapter…

Good content, dislike virtual narration.
I liked the material of the book very much. But I absolutely did not like the virtual voice narration. The inflection and accent of the Voice was fine. lack the ability to understand how to pronounce various words based on the context of the sentence such as picking up a lead referring to how a horse travels and pronouncing it as lead metal. In future, I would much prefer live narrators.

Excellent perspective
As a horse trainer. I find that I have neglected to notice all that the horses are offering to me. I'm learning to slow down and acknowledge my horses more. Excellent book!

great training advice!
i love Warwick’s training techniques and the way he presents them. i signed up for his training videos!
i did NOT like the automated voice. i only tolerated it because i loved the book so much. it misspoke words (such as ‘lead rope’). it may not bother others, but it really bothered me.

Wish author had read
Love Warwick! Was really looking forward to this audiobook. Was pretty disappointed with the virtual reader. Made it very hard to follow when the emphasis or pauses were awkward. And with horse info, you can’t read “led” when talking about “leads”!! Won’t recommend this audiobook. May go buy the book and read it myself.
