Resumen del Editor

In this illuminating book, brain scientist and horsewoman Janet Jones describes human and equine brains working together. Using plain language, she explores the differences and similarities between equine and human ways of negotiating the world. Mental abilities—like seeing, learning, fearing, trusting, and focusing—are discussed from both human and horse perspectives. Throughout, true stories of horses and handlers attempting to understand each other—sometimes successfully, sometimes not—help to illustrate the principles.

Horsemanship of every kind depends on mutual interaction between equine and human brains. When we understand the function of both, we can learn to communicate with horses on their terms instead of ours. By meeting horses halfway, we achieve many goals.

• We improve performance.

• We save valuable training time.

• We develop much deeper bonds with our horses.

• We handle them with insight and kindness instead of force or command.

• We comprehend their misbehavior in ways that allow solutions.

• We reduce the human mistakes we often make while working with them.

Instead of working against the horse's brain, expecting him to function in unnatural and counterproductive ways, this book provides the information needed to ride with the horse's brain. Each principle is applied to real everyday issues in the arena or on the trail, often illustrated with true stories from the author's horse training experience. Horse Brain, Human Brain offers revolutionary ideas that should be considered by anyone who works with horses.

Interesting

I loved the book. I just got a new horse and it was refreshing knowledge and new knowledge after owning horses for over 25 years. I don't think anyone completely ever will know everything about horses. All we can do is to keep striving to learn. This book was very interesting to me. I really enjoyed it.

Clever. Logical. Wise and kind…

Probably the best horse sense book I’ve read or listened to.
I first heard Dr Jones on the podcast Horsewise with Lynn Reardon.
I’m so glad I bought this on Audible, it will be re listened to many times!

Fabulous Book

This fascinating book is beautifully written by Dr Janet Jones, a well-qualified scientist and equestrian. It is very easy to understand and kept light by her lighthearted stories. I highly recommend it.

A must listen for any horsewoman or man.

Anyone who has ever been around a horse would benefit greatly from what this book has to offer. It provides a greater understanding to how a horse thinks and behaves, as well as. how your actions greatly effect their reactions. It does all this without being to overly complicated, boring, or hard to follow. The audio performance is very well done and there was no part of this book that left me confused or unable to comprehend. Brain science is fascinating, but using it to make myself a better horsewoman and understand what my equine partner is thinking during our interactions is even better. I am actively using some of this methodology in the training of my green mare with great success. I highly recommend this to anyone involved in the equestrian world even on an amateur level.
