That was great! The author gods and the publisher Archangel followed through by answering my plea, producing a new deck-building litRPG adventure. I've read them all. it's a sub-trope that I dearly love ❤! And Legendary Fool's great, scratching the itch I have for more books of this kind! I wouldn't compare it to other deck-building books, like All the Skills, well... 'cause Dragons of course. But the book is Legendary in it's own right... This is Tom's story a guy that's only willing to do just enough to get by. Never goin out of his way for anyone or anything. And then there was the card Tom received... why was he the recipient of the card the Legendary Fool? Why did the card, the Fool choose him? He really couldn't parse that out. So Tom is thrust into a new reality of Magic and monsters. Where Tom is gonna hafta stop his self centeredness, to embrace the world he now lives in or die.

Wow! Great! Follow Tom as he strives to understand this magical world!

I was entertained through out. I enjoyed the unique system, but felt the world building could have been fleshed out a little better. Still not sure how the dungeons work as a whole, the tower, the nobles, etc.
My biggest complaint is this written for a web series, meaning it doesn’t feel like a complete story. It just goes on until it’s over. (I know that everything does that) There is no build up, larger conflict, climax, resolution. It just has a “to be continued”

Good as a story bad as a book

I liked this book. Some of the skills are hard to follow. Just re-listen and it will make sense.

It’s good!

Really good and entertaining, I was hesitant at first because with a title like that, I thought it was going to be one of those stories were the mcnid the butt of the joke. but nope straight up action and intrigue looking forward to the next one

Awesome

I liked this book a lot and hope the second book in this series is made available on Audible very soon. I like how this story progresses, though a bit slow at the beginning. Narrator does a good job with the various characters voices and the entire storyline.

Short Version: An engaging deck-building LitRPG with an interesting card-based magic system that keeps you hooked, though it reads more like the opening chapters of a longer saga than a complete story. Worth a listen for fans of progression fantasy and unique magic systems, but be prepared for a "to be continued" ending.

Longer Version:
Story: The deck-building magic system is genuinely creative and refreshing. Unlike many LitRPG protagonists who are immediately overpowered, Thomas has to actually learn and strategize with his cards, which makes for more engaging progression. The worldbuilding around the card system and the various factions is solid, though it sometimes feels like we're only scratching the surface.
My main gripe is the pacing and structure. This definitely reads like it was originally a web serial - there's constant forward momentum but no real climactic build-up or resolution. Things just... continue until they stop. You won't get that satisfying story arc where conflict builds to a peak and then resolves. It's more of a "tune in next time" situation, which can be frustrating if you're expecting a complete narrative.
Narrator: The narration is well done with good characterization and pacing that helps differentiate the various characters. The narrator handles the action sequences and quieter moments equally well.
Overall: Despite the incomplete-feeling ending, I found myself genuinely interested in the MC’s journey and the card magic system. The author has created something different enough from the usual LitRPG fare to keep things interesting. The stats and progression aren't overwhelming, and the focus stays on character development and the unique magic system rather than endless grinding.
Recommended for: Fans of deck-building games and card-based magic systems, readers who enjoy progression fantasy and don't mind serial-style storytelling, and anyone looking for a LitRPG with a genuinely unique power system. Just go in knowing this is book one of what will clearly be a longer series.
Not recommended for: Readers who need complete story arcs in each book, or those who get frustrated by cliffhanger-style endings.
I'll be keeping an eye out for book two, as the world and magic system have enough going for them to warrant continuing the journey.

Even though I have seen cards and LitRPG mixed before, it still felt original. The game mechanics running the world were very different. The isekai moment at the beginning was well done. It didn’t just skip to the isekai like some books but the moment helped with character development for the MC. Overall it was an enjoyable read. The narrator did a really good job.

Interesting concept

Last quarter turned into a long drawn-out battle instead of learning and exploring how the card system worked.

This is the my first experience with a deck building litrpg. It took a while to get into the groove but I found myself enjoying it. The narrator was good, but there were too many mispronounced words to earn a five star. Hearing words like Hyperbole pronounced "hyper-bowl" was an unnecessary distraction. Overall however, it was enjoyable.

The actual power he gets from his card is super unique and makes a really interesting way to power up. Really well done story gonna keep up when the next book drops.
