Decent. Too political.

It's a shame, really. The characters are good, development is good, steam is good.

Then the abundance of the author's personal political views come on like a brick to the head.

A DEMON introducing itself by stating its pronouns was bad enough, but the abortion segment was 100% "this is all the man's fault for not thinking, even if the female was 1000% willing to engage in unprotected sex."

While I do support her right to what she did, every other character was absolutely horrible the kraken king. Abusive, blaming him and only him and assuming that he was forcing her into it, even after her supported her choice.

It was the most cringe possible way to handle the situation and the author needs to leave her personal anger out of monster romance books.

Hot and steamy

This book had my imagination going and I want more of the story, I could not sleep at all last night listening to this hot story.

Rediscovered love.

I enjoyed this spicy romance. Thane and Catrina both rediscovered they need love and are able to love and be loved.

I absolutely loved it

Adorable and spicy, I wasn’t sure anything could beat the first book but Roberts has outdone herself again!

Good Story, but I Wish it Had Been a Bit Longer

A very nice story, but it would have been nice to spend more time with the characters. I also thought it worth mentioning (since I've seen some rather mean reviews about "pronoun crap") that there was very nice use of gender neutral pronouns in this book. I love seeing representation in stories that just is, without othering the individuals.

Representation can't save flat plot.

I still think this story has a lot of potential, and there were bits of it I very much enjoyed. That enjoyment was somewhat diminished when Thane and Catalina seem to develop feelings for each other because *reasons*. It might be the length of the story, but I didn't believe their switch from animosity to affection. I loved the representation present in this book, and hope to see more books like it hit the shelves.

Very middle of the road for me

I was very disappointed after hearing so much about Dragons Bride, and I was hoping for just a little more from it. But when this one came out on audio I thought I’d give it another shot.

For me and my taste, it’s just a bit too restrained. Spice could have been a bit more, the climax (or antagonist or SOMETHING) was a let down, just didn’t feel like the plot actually had anywhere to go besides a bratty woman and a heartbroken, grumpy kraken. That novelty wore off after about 5 chapters for me.

Again is it the worst listen out there? By no means, it was an easy listen and the narrators are good. But just fell short of what I wanted it to be.

Charming and naughty

Loved it. Loved the character growth and discussion of communication issues and abuse. The sex scenes were delicious.

wish it was longer!

enjoyed this steamy PNR with unusual male monster hero as the 'good' guy. very refreshing to see a FMC not play a damsel in distress and whine about her past misfortunes.
(we've all been through some rough times, right?) she keeps moving forward. love that.
wish more authors wrote their FMC as strong examples instead of weak and in need of a good slap of reality.

overall, I enjoyed this novella but it was too short for my liking.
I feel like there could have been more development of side characters or other plot elements.
main characters were well written and I feel like I know Thane and Catalina well but who else was in the story? couldn't tell you. and that's a shame because I think these are all tied together to make some big overall arc.

it's worth the credit but if you're used to a 10 hour book, you might feel cheated because it does end kind of abruptly.
take heart though, she does give you an epilogue to wrap things up.

I enjoy Katee's work and I'll continue buying whatever she publishes to Audio
