Resumen del Editor

Bagamoyo, East African Coast, Late 1866

RyAnne can hardly believe she's been rescued. And yet there is the Captain, kneeling before her and asking her to be his wife. But before returning to Zanzibar, they hope to find Khalifa's partners in illegal slave trading and bring them to justice.

Upon reaching Bagamoyo, Trent makes sure RyAnne is tucked away safely in an inn as he pursues the criminals. Before long, he's trailing an unexpected suspect in the thriving slave entrepôt that holds perils he couldn't have foreseen.

When RyAnne stumbles across a vital piece of evidence in Khalifa's missives from his wife, she breaks her promise - well, she didn't really promise - to stay in her room and rushes headlong into danger. Danger that this time might be too much to overcome.

A thrilling historical romance from the time of missionary explorer David Livingstone.

Edge of Your Seat Conclusion!

This has been the BEST series! Touted as a romance series, its really SO much more! Historical, faith-based story of the slave trade in Africa in the 1800s, you will learn much of the greed and motivation which pushed white men to pursue and enslave their fellow human beings. Their evil justifications, their misuse of the women, then disposal of their own children by these women, and wholesale killing of any of the people whom they deemed imperfect. Bodies floating in the bays, decomposing, juxtaposed against the prim and proper dinner parties of the wealthy merchants, who only days ago were dealing in human flesh . . . and although hidden from human eyes, all in view of an all-seeing God. In this final installment, Trent (Captain Dawson) has proposed to RyAnne, and they are about to return to Zanzibar. But first they will stop in Bagamoyo to try and meet up with the head of the slave ring. With RyAnne safely tucked away in her room, Captain Dawson goes to the dock to spy on the ships docked there. But RyAnne discovers some hidden information in Khalifa’s letters that she must get to Trent. Leaving her room . . . totally against Trent’s instructions . . . RyAnne goes in search of Trent, placing herself in danger. What happens next is hair raising. The rest of the story, including the homecoming in Zanzibar is richly told, emphasizing God’s grace, forgiveness and faithfulness. I cannot recommend this series highly enough to all who wish to get a greater understand of the times in Africa in the 1800s.

Spice Isle series

Very good series; interesting and well written. I enjoyed how the author wove biblical principles into the story. Ryanne and Trent’s extraordinary journey of hard ache, suspense, and love was well performed by Mary Sarah Agliotta.

Interesting enough to finish but not to recommend

The story was too predictable and the characters too flat
It was sort of like reading old English stories where the white people bluster on with no understanding of the people they colonize.
