About the Creator

Jeffery Deaver is an international number-one bestselling author. His books are sold in 150 countries and have been translated into 25 languages. He has served two terms as president of Mystery Writers of America, and was recently named a Grand Master of MWA, whose ranks include Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen, Mary Higgins Clark, and Walter Mosley.
The author of 43 novels, three collections of short stories and a nonfiction law book, and a lyricist of a country-western album, he’s received or been shortlisted for dozens of awards. His The Bodies Left Behind was named Novel of the Year by the International Thriller Writers, and his Lincoln Rhyme thriller, The Broken Window, and a stand-alone, Edge, were also nominated for that prize. The Garden of Beasts won the Steel Dagger from the Crime Writers Association in England. He’s also been nominated for eight Edgar Awards by the MWA.
Deaver has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention, Strand Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Raymond Chandler Lifetime Achievement Award in Italy

About the Performer

David Harbour most recently wrapped on Steven Soderbergh’s No Sudden Move, in which he stars as the lead alongside Benicio Del Toro and Don Cheadle. He currently stars as Jim Hopper on Stranger Things (Netflix), for which he has been nominated for both a Golden Globe in the Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series category, and for a Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series category. Harbour will next appear in Black Widow as The Red Guardian opposite Scarlett Johansson. His recent credits include Extraction, opposite Chris Hemsworth, 2019’s Hellboy starring as the title character, and David Ayer’s Suicide Squad opposite Will Smith, Jared Leto, and Margot Robbie.

The story equals a 3.5. It was good, however the ending contained one twist too many for me.

I think this story would have been just fine with the stand-alone ending, but to add the wife back into the mix muddied the waters.

Pretty good, but the end got too muddled...

Whoa! I did not see that coming. Honestly, I didn't expect to get so into this novella but I did and the twist at the end left me having to pick my jaw up off the floor.

Intriguing story and a fantastic performance. Had it not been included in my membership, I wouldn't have downloaded such a short listen. But I adore David Harbour and I love a good mystery.

Okay, I'm catching on. Bite size unsettling stories. This one was on the paranormal side? Kinda spooky, entertaining!

Short and to the point. I did have to listen twice to it though to figure out the ending. But, it was worth it.
