About the Creator

Jeffery Deaver is an international number-one bestselling author. His books are sold in 150 countries and have been translated into 25 languages. He has served two terms as president of Mystery Writers of America, and was recently named a Grand Master of MWA, whose ranks include Agatha Christie, Ellery Queen, Mary Higgins Clark, and Walter Mosley.
The author of 43 novels, three collections of short stories and a nonfiction law book, and a lyricist of a country-western album, he’s received or been shortlisted for dozens of awards. His The Bodies Left Behind was named Novel of the Year by the International Thriller Writers, and his Lincoln Rhyme thriller, The Broken Window, and a stand-alone, Edge, were also nominated for that prize. The Garden of Beasts won the Steel Dagger from the Crime Writers Association in England. He’s also been nominated for eight Edgar Awards by the MWA.
Deaver has been honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Bouchercon World Mystery Convention, Strand Magazine’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Raymond Chandler Lifetime Achievement Award in Italy

I watch Tracker every week and I love Colton Shaw. Very good short story! For a short story it was good and to the point. I could see it produced for the Tracker series.

Truly interesting and fresh. The master of surprises, JD gives a Midwestern breath of intrigue to these normally sleepy communities. I'm fast becoming a committed fan!

I am not surprised that this short story was as good as it was!! Jeffery Deaver tells great stories and this is pure Colter Shaw all the way!! You start into the story thinking it's going to be a straightforward tale because of the length and because of what Colter Shaw is good at doing - being a good human being - and then you get totally spun around!!!! Love it!! I was not expecting the major turn at the end of the story - but it was incredible!!!

This is a mystery story that is ok but just too meandering for me. I know we need a back story but this one jumps from past to future and back to the present too many times. Like I said, it is a mystery but it doesn’t flow very well.

Shaw goes after the reward for finding a man's artist wife. He finds her pretty fast and things are not as they seem--twice!
