miss Erivo is excellent and very engaging!
the story does seem to grab you and draw you into her world and make you wonder about this yellow wallpaper but, then that's it..poof it kinda looses you and then it ends.
oh well... font know if I'll recommend it..

Excellent

Creepy, eerie but also sad. Well worth the hype surrounding this short story. I'm glad I finally read this.

Disappointing

Started out very mysterious and promising. The story didn’t develop. The ending had no surprise or punch but what can you expect for 40 minutes.

Decent into madness

This is a short literary piece which is often, with the best of intentions, assigned to high school students. Only, they can't possibly understand it. The level of gaslighting that happens in this static asylum-like prison is totally antithetical to the restless energetic lifestyle of bustling from home to school, school to home, to friends houses, or the vast reach of social media.

The story's Poe-like monomania is window dressing for a deeply proto-feminist story where the woman goes, mad breaks free of her prison, and her husband falls -- all because of his relentless oppressive control.

The story isn't without fault. The description of the wallpaper can get tiresome and the transition moment is a little too blink-and-you-miss-it. Overall though, this is a wonderful short story.

Great narration. I've been listening to another version for a few years because I got it for free at the time. I far prefer this reading.

I didn’t understand what happen in the story. But I think I has a twist in it that I didn’t catch.

Short psychological thriller...

Short psychological thriller included in Audible Plus. Semi-autobiographical about her experience with post-partum psychosis – Gilman wrote in first person from the perspective of a woman convalescing in a rental home with her husband, newborn, and staff. Initially frustrated by how everyone is handling her chronic illness, she slowly becomes obsessed with the wallpaper in the room their staying in.

Enjoyable & twisted historical.

One of the Greats

Very nicely produced, The audio is clear and I was impressed by how the intro music set the tone. Cynthia Erivo gives a wonderful performance. This tale holds a special place in my heart as it is one of the first stories I've read with an unrelible narrator who suffers from mental illness--it leaves for a lot to unpack and merits a second pass if it's your first time hearing the story.
