Percy was not dealing with his sibling’s disappearances, Kain was his closest sibling and Artemis was his only sister. Gabriel’s current quest to make everyone in the family miserable and the fact that the twins had moved out wasn’t helping matters any. But when he saves an elven child from a ghoul Percy is faced with an opportunity he never thought possible and a place where he might not have to hide the magic running through his veins.
Orin, Lord of the Crimson Stag, wasn’t expecting to stumble across a hunter mage while trying to find his kidnapped son but the unfairly attractive man was the least of his worries. The Fae Wild is restless, shifting to choose a new ruler and with his connection to it everyone knows who the next king is going to be. But when the next attempt on his son’s life happens Orin realizes that his limited allies means he needs to ask for outside help, in the form of one Percival Hellsing.

No book is perfect, things in the series can certainly get sort of overly dramatic sometimes I feel. But even though it’s a little tiny bit over the top the drama is always satisfying. I have noticed that in each book at some point somebody always clutches their pearls, I think the author could sub in “surprise“ for “shock“ every once in a while, and most of the villains aren’t the brightest crayons in the box, and I really really wish the author had put in an epilogue where we got to see some of the elven ceremonies that were hinted at, but the merits of these books outweigh its imperfections. As is the case with every good book.
The overarching plot is just very novel and I have no idea where it’s going and I am really anticipating seeing where things go in this particular book. I really like the romance between Orin and Percy. They, like the other couples in the series really seem to make each each other’s lives better not just by being each other’s designated “love interest“ but by tempering and helping each other do better and feel better (though admittedly, I do think that Vlad and Kane will always be my favorite, even if these two are a very close second). Keilan is cute too!
I also love that every character in these books really is a different character. They’re not just all the same but flavored a little differently. The author does a really great job of keeping track of what each protagonist should and shouldn’t know throughout the books. This includes the feelings of those around them and I really appreciate that. The protagonists can have differing and conflicting opinions and feelings, which we really get to see from book to book.
I just can’t recommend this series enough clearly because I wrote so many reviews. 11/10 would certainly recommend.
I really loved this…
