A bad play shouldn’t cause a media meltdown but I’m Kyle Bosco and I’m a competitive jerk. So of course I couldn’t just shut up. Now I must atone for my comments. Somehow that includes working at a daycare with seven year old Piper who thinks I’m her best friend. But Piper is not the one who has me tied up in knots. That job is reserved for Harper Wallace- her mother.

Harper is fierce, combative, and an irresistibly gorgeous single mom.

If hating me were a sport, she'd be MVP. For reasons I can't tell you, she's completely off limits so I obviously should stay away.

But hear me out?

I'm a competitive jerk. I’m not the guy that rides the bench. I’d rather go down swinging and foul out than not play at all.

The Foul Out, book 3 in The Boston Revs, Three Outs Series was such a sweet book, yes it had all the sexy tension, cocky flirting we look forward too and the fun friends group we have grown to love but it also had so much heart to it. Harper a single Mom of 2 adorable children, is tirelessly trying to navigate parenthood with her intelligent daughter Piper with ASD and Sam her sweet little boy, so when a handsome cocky baseball player squeezes his way into her life, the last thing she has time for is a relationship, but Boston Revs right fielder, Kyle Bosco will do whatever it takes to win this mama over. I loved the pinning Kyle did to work his magic into not only Harper’s life but into her kids hearts. Having experienced what Haper deals with on a day to day basis Kyle understood the patience and support it took and slowly made a huge impact on this family. Narrated By Stephen Dexter and Erin Mallon they both did a beautiful job keeping this book fun and flirty while also dealing with serious topics. Stephen was able to express Kyle in a way that not very many people knew him to be, the playboy, overly competitive sometimes a jerk ball player, had a soft spot for the ones he loved and even behind the sarcasm covering up his true heart, Stephen was able to really bring the emotions to the table with his voice. Throughout The Foul Out, Harper had so many different emotions she dealt with daily and Erin Mallon was able to express them so beautifully, from putting on a brave face even when exhausted, or trying to be there in a different way for one child than the other, all while trying to open her heart up to love, she was overwhelmed, sad, happy, giddy, strong, independent, confident and a loving mother, and Erin had me feeling each one of those emotions while listening.

Thank You Jenni Bara and Team for the opportunity to listen and review.

I loved this audiobook so much. The narrators did an incredible job bringing the story to life. The most meaningful part of the book for me however was how well the author depicted a child with ASD the struggles, the joys, interacting with others who don't understand and then also how to navigate the difficult moments and how to set them up for success vs. being triggered. I thought this was handled with such care and I found this part of the story so interesting and eye opening. This is really one of the best single mom romances I've read in a long time. Harper is incredible. I loved her and Kyle's enemies to lovers journey. Her snark, his banter it made for such a fun audio experience. His dear diary texts brought such humor and light heartedness, I was often smiling so wide reading this. Harper for a long time was alone but her world expanded when Kyle made his big error after their "meet-cute" and she met Zara who became an incredible friend to her.
I highly recommend this book! If you love enemies to lovers, found family, and single mom and the guy who falls hard for the kids and the mom this one is for you!

The Foul Out by Jenni Bara
Narrated by Stephen Dexter & Erin Mallon

If you didn't know by now Jenni Bara is one of my absolute favorites. But when she wrote this book, it's like she was inside my head. As a mama of 3 neurodiverse kiddos this book made me feel seen, heard and know that i was not alone.

Not only does she not disappoint with her writing like ever but it's clear that her choice is narrators for each audiobook is something she doesn't seem to fail at either. Stephen and Erin are the perfect choices for Kyle and Harper. Another audiobook from this series that made me find every excuse to do all the adult chores i want to avoid! They bring ever emotion to life. The uncertainty, the anxiety, excitement, love and all the things in between just flow from the speakers!

This was my top read of 2024! For all the reasons. Harper and the personal connection i felt to her. Her strength. Her fight. Piper because of how I saw each of my kiddos in her. Kyle because damn this man. He's amazing. The way he was a jerk but redeemed himself. How he became a support. For not just Piper and Sam. But someone that Harper could lean on and trust. Even if it did take some time. And groveling. This book will always hold a special place and my heart and I'm so glad Jenni wrote it! ❤️

This Audio. This Book. This Author. Forever My Favorite! 🩵⚾️

I think this is the first audiobook I’m sad it finished! It was better than I expected. The story was full of emotions. I’m going to say it, Kyle Bosco is my favorite of Jenni’s MMC, well Corey Matthews is going to be always my #1 ok. I love how well written is the ASD representation. Enemies to lovers is definitely one of my favorite tropes. I love Harper, Piper and Sam, they are all a really special family. Being a single mom can take a lot of your energy, and when Kyle comes around and helps her it’s really amazing. I love how everything starts with a obligation for Kyle, PR necessity and transforms to a pleasure and a purpose for him. The audiobook narrators did an excellent job, excellent performance. I really enjoyed how they bring both Kyle and Harper to life. Can’t wait to listen to them again soon.

Story: 14/10
Spice: 2/5
Spice Hierarchy: Spicy
Narration: 5/5, duet

Harper is trying her very best to balance work and being a single mom. She doesn't have time for fun or games with all the other demands in her life. Enter Kyle Bosco who is only around for a good time but is not happy that Harper ruined his team’s chance at the World Series. Now that the season is done, Kyle is forced to spend some time with Harper and her kids to fix the media storm. Kyle is there to push every single one of Harper’s buttons while also showing up for her and her family day in and day out.

As a teacher working with students on the spectrum, as a parent of a child with a hidden disability, as a mom, and as a human, I love this story. I knew I would love it when I saw the tropes (single mom, ASD representation, reformed playboy). It was a top read of 2024 and the audio brought me to my knees.

Erin and Stephen did so much more than read the words on a page. This was a performance. Everything was so heartfelt. The sighs of frustration, the laughs at Kyle’s antics. The delivery of Piper’s matter-of-fact way of thinking and Sam’s young voice. Although I had already read the story, this made it feel new again.

I don’t care that it's January. I’m saying it now, this will be a top listen for me this year.

A top audio of the year
