Devious

This has a lot of twists and turns. You are always guessing what is going on. Teddy and Charlie seem like an unlikely pair and somehow it works. The side characters blend great and the mafia type vide made the story more thrilling. I really enjoyed this series. There are 3 books in this storyline. During this story, there is trigger warnings of rape of the MFC. Please be aware. It is part of the storyline going forward after it takes place. The narrators do a really good job.

Kept me glued to book....

If you love mafia then this is the one for you!
I love when the female is just as capable and skilled as the male. Can't wait for the next book in series. Highly recommend !

Charlie and Teddy

The narrators did a good job and I enjoyed listening to them

I liked this Charlie is determined to find her father's killer and finds herself looking for help from Mafia King Teddy. I really like how Charlie is a bada$$ and can take care of herself. Teddy is infatuated with Charlie from the first time he saw her and was going to use her as leverage. This was enjoyable and entertaining not only do you get the start of their relationship with I found funny as they both try to break each other. But you also get introduced to a bunch of characters and one is a killer, someone is working for the cartel, shady characters appear. This does end in a cliffhanger and FYI I believe there is four books to their story. I can't wait to listen to the next book.

You’re a cop, and the chief’s daughter. Very pro-cop and anti “dirty cop” but as you’re literally burying your dad, you find your life irrevocably mingled with crime families … and realize everything you thought you knew, may not be so …

This is my first read by this author and based on this experience, not my last. Mysteries and danger everywhere with some passion thrown in—no complaints!

I kinda liked this

I kinda liked this. I was unsure what was going on sometimes and why things had to be a certain way but I liked the characters that are in here. I almost feel like the author was omitting information to not give anything away which at the same time leave the reader feeling confused and unfulfilled. It does end on a cliffhanger which are not my favorite.

What I liked are those characters! Teddy, the twins and yes even Carl. They are serious and can do unspeakable things but they also have humor that comes out.

I listened to this on audio. Alan Stone and Phillipa Miller do a bang up job on the narration. Overall its a good story that kept me interested and yet confused at the same time. It has some action and suspense that keep me wondering.

Secrets

Charlotte is a strong, independent woman. Her father was the sheriff and taught her well, self defense, being aware, how to read people. She is determined to find out who murdered her father.That includes joining the enemy. Promises made in secret, affects her future. Who is she willing to trust to find out that information? Secrets, betrayal, danger, is a great start to this series. It ends in a surprising cliffy. Alan Stone and Phillipa Miller narration is very good. I enjoyed listening to this story. #The Flock On Tour

The Devious King

The Devious King is the first book in The Hale Mafia series. This book is about Theodore (Teddy) Hale and Charlie and is told from both of their points of view.

Charlie was the daughter of the police chief, and Teddy is a mob boss. When Charlie's father ends up dead, she has questions she wants the answers to. When Teddy shows up offering to help her get answers if she works for him she takes the deal.

Now living with Teddy, Charlie has more questions that answers when she starts finding things out.

I'm excited to continue on in this series, and see what happens next!

The Devious King is the first book in The Hale Mafia series. This was a good read. You could feel Charlie and Teddy’s chemistry. The characters and storyline were interesting but left many questions unanswered. I’m curious to see what happens in the next book.

Alan Stone and Phillipa Miller did a nice job portraying the characters in the novel.

Narrators do a great job! Loved the way they brought the story to life.


Over all I liked the story but if feels like things are missing. I get keeping it from a character but alot of of felt like it was just trying to confuse everyone. It’s nothing hard just a bunch of little things that I feel took away from the depth of the story. I figured out what was going to happen before it did though the cliffhanger was a surprise because I didn’t look to see how long the boom was. Since it ended in a cliffhanger I will be waiting for the next book. Curious to see if whatever happens at the end (sorry no spoilers) will be explained and if it achieved the goal. I really like the main characters. They have fun personalities that I enjoyed alot.

A dark story full of murder, mystery, action. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained and engaged with the characters. Charlie is trying to find the persons responsible for the death of her police chief father. Teddy had a strange relationship with him and Charlie is challenged in her beliefs about her father’s integrity. The are tentative at best when they first meet but it quickly becomes more. While we get Teddy’s background, he is still a bit of a mystery. His two associates; twins, Lucas and Julius are also very interesting.
The story is fast paced and something is always going on in the background. The ending leaves us eager to find out what happens next.
