Doesn’t disappoint!

The story was very sweet but heart wrenching at times . I liked that it was focused on developing the relationship between Chatham and Charlotte rather than distracting with multiple side characters. It does set the stage for the next book but the tormented hero was still the focus . He is the one we love to hate but turns out to be the most noble scoundrel.

Lovely story

The narrators voice made all the characters come alive and made the story more enjoyable. Would listen to it again.

likable but flawed characters

sometimes the story drags a bit but the couple has excellent chemistry. overall this is a perfectly diverting arrangement of the usual genre tropes

He was never loved, She wants to leave!

He has never been loved and she wants to return to America. Chatham is nothing but a walking scandal and down to his last farthing. His father has debts all over and he must sell all the unentailed property to pay those debts. When a offer he can't refuse comes his way, he just has to be sober and faithful to his wife for the next year.
Charlotte has been scheming against her father for 5 years putting aside money so that she can return to America and start her trade.
Her father has other ideas. When he tells her he finally has someone with a title that agrees to marry her, she is devastated.
A great story with a beautiful ending. Mary Sarah is a wonderful narrator.

What a delight to read.

This was a really fun read. The romance is different enough to keep you interested and still believable within the historical context. I find this series gets better and better each book. Even the narration was much much better in this book, without all the extra dramatics that made the last few hrs to listen to sometimes even though the story was still so compelling even in those. This book had a wonderful heroine and a hero who grew as a person over the course of the book. Loved every minute of it. Definitely looking forward to the next on the series.

Awful narrator

The story itself is beautiful and hot and everything you want in a historical romance. But the narrator for this audiobook is absolutely awful. She talks in a breathy/whispery way that is difficult to even hear until the volume is maxed out. To add insult to injury, she pauses and pronounces syllables in an absolutely baffling and infuriating way. She adds pauses in the middle of sentences where they shouldn’t be. She raises the inflection of her voice at the of sentences that are not questions. I will never listen to a book narrated by her again.

Redemption of a Wastrel

How often does anyone get a second chance? Especially when that chance is backed every step of the way by a promissory payment of 100,000 pounds and a young lady for wife who believes in you? Is it too good to be true or is it a fully backed gamble?
I say it's a much needed chance at a life worth living! Excellently written and narrated!

I just love a reformed rake!

I have read all of the books in the series. This is by far my favorite. I like the narrator- but find I need the speed at 1.3 to best enjoy.
