Her husband, Lyle, wants to create sustainable crops without pesticides or herbicides. As a young couple, they are beginning the process of creating their new home and orchards and other crops.

They hire Andy Stoneman, a young talented builder, as the contractor to build their home. He is a quiet man and wants to join Rita and her dreams of building eco-friendly homes and gardens. In the process, he meets Audrey Dawson.

She is a dedicated nurse who has always dreamed of being a homemaker, but her past experiences with men have left her wary and cautious. She's determined to focus on her career and make a comfortable life for herself, even if it means putting her personal life—longing for love and family—on hold. Andy is drawn to Audrey's kindness and intelligence. He finds himself quietly in love with her while building barns, sheds, and planters at Audrey’s surrogate mother’s home. However, his shy and retiring nature has kept him from confessing his feelings.

Finally, Audrey’s much younger twin brothers help Andy ask Audrey for a date. She is immediately drawn to Andy's gentle and thoughtful demeanor. But as their relationship blossoms, she can't shake the feeling that he might be too good to be true.
