Resumen del Editor

The widespread belief that the mind is a computer embodies a failure to distinguish between computers and information-processing systems. Minds are information-processing systems, but they are not computers.

an utterly brilliant book, if a bit short

What made the experience of listening to The Computational Theory of Mind the most enjoyable?

the sheer intelligence of it

What was one of the most memorable moments of The Computational Theory of Mind?

the distinction between semantic and non-semantic causation

Which scene was your favorite?

the part about the wood-chipper---funny!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I thought it was good, but I wouldn't say that I had an 'extreme emotional reaction' to it. It's a book about computers.

Any additional comments?

Well done, but, quite frankly, I think the author should write material of a more literary nature, because his current fare, as represented by this book, is a bit heavy for most audio book listeners.

Weak arguments and poor narration

I wasn't satisfied with most of the arguments made in this book. This could be because I'm not familiar enough with the topic, or because the audio format didn't provide me with enough time to appreciate the arguments, but they usually felt like they were based on straw man semantics. I also didn't feel like he authentically represented any opposing arguments. The narrator was also very difficult to listen to, since he sounded fairly monotone and not engaging.

worst narrator of all time.

couldn't finish this very short audiobook because the narrator is awful. his narration is choppy and unnatural, making it nearly impossible to follow what he's saying. I've tried a couple different times and can't get past it.
