The Challenge of Entail

New hope arrives for the Bennet family when Mr. Bennet discovers a way by which he can end the dreaded entail, leaving him free to leave Longbourn where he wishes. Mr. Bennet seizes the opportunity, ensuring his family's support and providing for their future.

When the militia arrives in Meryton, they find a Bennet family much changed from what it had been in the past, for the youngest Bennets are better behaved and not out, and the eldest must deal with new and unwanted attention. For Jane Bennet, the difference is striking, for her position as heir to Longbourn ensures interest from quarters she has no desire to receive.

And what of the Netherfield party? Business in London delays their arrival in Hertfordshire, and when they do arrive, Mr. Darcy discovers the presence of a hated enemy and finds a woman he can admire. When enemies collide, dangerous situations erupt which have the potential to leave them all changed. Against this backdrop, Mr. Darcy must not only woo the woman he loves, but also protect her against the machinations of an unscrupulous scoundrel.

Very inventive storyline!

Be sure you give this narrator a chance! She does an incredible job with voices that make this story come alive. Lots of action with unexpected results. I’d listen to this again!

Great Story, Irritating Narrator

I always enjoy Jann Rowland‘s books, and this one was no exception. I did, however, have to really manage my reaction to the narrator’s lispy, sing song narration style. She adds a TH sound to the ends of many of the words, which I do not understand at all. It made me feel like I was being showered with spittle.

I will have to make a note to avoid this narrator’s works, though she did do a good job of differentiating the characters.

it took me a minute to get into it. however that might have been just me being stubborn because I genuinely enjoyed the entire story.

Amazingly I prefer the AI voices over this voice. Story decent but the voice brought down the energy of the story line significantly.

Without a doubt! The best intro of D to E ever!

Yes, there is a lot of weaving and building of plot lines and intrigue adding several unique storylines that are not strict canon using our favorite P&P characters, and, no, this is not a quick read. But what a unique and intricate storyline with plenty of excitement and a very satisfying portrait of all our favorite P&P folks improved with no entail. So, wait for it as Jann Rowland has our hero literally riding to the rescue — more than once. And the expected characters are there, but some are changed for good or ill.

As always, this is my least favorite narrator, and it does no good to belabor the point. However, jacking up the speed makes all the difference in avoiding the gnashing of teeth (mine).
