Throughout the book there are numerous quotes and references from influential individuals and institutions to emphasize the subject. The book is also riddled with numerous stories and examples to expound on the subject and to paint a picture in the reader's mind on what constitutes an effective public speaker as well as what kind of speech is considered effective.

Many people who think they are good public speakers are left in doubt after reading this book. 'The Art of Public Speaking' is an essential tool to help you learn to work a crowd, leave them charmed and hanging onto your every word. A great start to shaking off public speaking jitters, socializing and mastering the art of small talk.

Horrendous

The two main components in rating, an audiobook is the quality of the narration and the quality of the content. This book fails miserably on both. First, the narrator’s native language is not English and, as a result, the narrators speech is broken English. Many, many of the words are not pronounced correctly and, therefore, you have to try to figure out what the word is that the narrator is saying. This happens throughout the entire book. Additionally, the narrator’s tone is completely flat. There are times in this book that emphasize annunciation, tone, etc. But because the narrator tone is flat, these points are completely missed and do not come across. Second is the content. It is terrible. There is so much “fluff “in this book, it could’ve been whittled down to an hour. And even if it was, that hour of content is not helpful in the least. This is by far the worst audiobook I have ever listened to. If I could read it zero, I would.

Narration was... rough

I've read a few Carnegie books, and he definitely uses a syntax that can be complicated, especially compared to more modern books. That being said, the narrator did no favors for this complicated prose, and his delivery was way off, leaving me scratching my head and struggling through the book. It seemed at many times that he was reading the sentences for the first time, not really putting emphasis on the correct words, and had quite a few mispronounciations throughout. His voice is good, but the cadence and pronunciation made this book extremely difficult for me to get through.
