In this compelling and heartfelt memoir, writer Molly McAleer chronicles the discovery of her father's addiction and subsequent death, how true love saved her life and how she kind of sort of got tricked into going to rehab. She knows you'll probably never believe her side of the story, so she also interviews friends, ex-friends, and her acupuncturist about her history of substance abuse, flailing through her twenties and what kind of person she really is.

About the Author:

She needs to touch a dog (any dog) at least once a day and hates eating, people who make fun of Juggalos and the circus. You can listen to her advice podcast, Plz Advise on iTunes and SoundCloud.

I loved this book, period. While our lives took very different paths Molly’s book resonated with me tremendously, I have been in a battle for me, for decades, and for the first time in a long time I have a sense of clarity. Her willingness to be vulnerable and speak openly and honestly was eye opening. Thank you Molly McAleer for this book. At the end you said that someday you know you will touch someone with your writing well if you haven’t before, you have now.
May God Bless you abundantly

I love this chick. Great story- kinda wish there was more. Worth a read though.

I really wanted to love this book. I did enjoy her narration and bulleted takeaways and found it engaging. Unfortunately about halfway through all I got was negativity, denial, judgment, and poor insight. She really does know service to people seeking to recovery and/or treatment. There are some tender moments but she comes off judgmental and bitter. are the “interviews“ at the end of the book seem there to bolster her opinion and perpetuate her denial. This is not most peoples experience with recovery, and no one enters treatment in a cavalier manner as suggested. There are so many great books out there and treatment programs, this one should not be on your list.

Bitter and dismissive

I’m new to audible and even though I can read very well I hate to read books! Mostly because I’m one of those people that have to be doing something all of the time. This is the 5th book I’ve started and was captured from the start. Nothing is wrong with the author, and shame on anyone saying that “she’s not that person you want to be around”. Mental health is important and so is addiction and she’s speaking on it!

Best book I’ve got on audible so far!

Such an easy listen. Breezed through it.
The only question I have is... how does she manage to so many good friends in L.A., even if it's 25% out of over 100? I live in "the south" and people are extremely disingenuous.

Enjoyed it!
