Small town drama.

Twist and turns throughout the entire book keeps you interested beginning to end. Recommend this book whole heartedly.

Generations of mothers and daughters finding their voices

Well written. I consumed this in two days. Sadly, I had to work for 16 of those hours or it would have been one! Good, even narration. More like this please!!!

A compelling story

The story line was unique, kept my interest throughout. Twists, with pleasant characters, well developed. A pleasant read (except for misuse of “Jesus” as an expletive). Layers kept unfolding. If you’re looking for a really good listen, go with this one!!

Such great reading

I usually don’t like skipping back and forth in time, but this was done so well it wasn’t confusing!
I loved it!

Timeless

A mother with probably post partum depression never diagnosed could not properly care for her daughter. When the daughter was a young teen she was left in charge of her baby brother. The place is Kentucky in the late 1950's and early 60's.

In 2010 a young woman writer living in New York city is hired by a famous photographer to research the subject of a picture he'd taken in Kentucky nearly 50 years ago.

A fascinating story with characters so real you think you know them. Even the minor characters are sketched with truth. The two narrators make the story sing through the pages. Sometimes it's a sad song, sometimes brimming with delight. And sometimes with a despair so raw you want it to stop.

I was enthralled right through the epilogue.

Surprise ending!!!!

Very interesting but the surprise ending was happy after a sometimes sad story of family and the skeletons in the closet.

Outstanding!

This was amazing; so wonderfully written. I only stopped listening when I had no choice. The characters came to life right from the beginning and I felt like I knew each one of them personally. The story brings the past to the present in a brilliant way. Narrators did a superb job. Nathan Gower, I would not be surprised if this becomes a movie! In the meantime, I pray you keep writing. I am looking forward to your next book. Bravo!!!!
