Need more Threshold

This installment is excellent, I am no fan of Dead Moon, probably because it ventures to far from the Threshold universe. Great story and narration. Keep them coming, I want/need more

no direct actions

this whole book is just people reacting to getting punched in the gut over and over. there's no real direct action taken by the characters. they're almost completely unimportant to the story.

the world is ending. huh, looks like we can't stop it...

Back to the story

Big sigh of relief! After being so disappointed with his last book, I am so happy to find that this book takes us back to the 14 and The Fold story line. With a bang!!

Peter Clines Does It Again!

Once again, Peter Clines has delivered an amazing addition to the Threshold series. I cannot get enough of these stories.

Great performance of a less than great story

Ray Porter is always the right choice. So even though I thought this story in the series was the weakest so far, I still didn’t dislike it but honestly, i was hoping for better. If you like the other threshold stories then you’ll want to read this one too and I hope you like it better than I did.

I can't believe how much I enjoyed this!

I was listening to too many novels based in space so I needed a departure from the genre. I think I read a bit of the description but, truthfully, as soon as I was sure they weren't in a spaceship and saw Ray Porter in the credits I was sold. I was hooked from the start and loved every minute! Definitely worth your time.

An island at the end of the world

Terminus is not a stand alone story. You really need to have read or listened to 14 before diving in. 14 is one of my favorite books. Terminus is an OK follow-up, but it fails to capture the magic of 14. Clines delivers on excellent world building and some great characters. Our novel starts with some characters on a ship near Madagascar. An approaching storm, engine failure, and a nervous captain sends 4 to shore to wait out the storm while the rest of the crew works to repair the engines and secure the cargo to ride the storm out. On another part of the island, The Family arrives to open the way for the Great Ones to cleanse the world. Mysteries, action, surprises await all on this island, and Clines does a good job of not getting too handwavy to explain things away.

Ray Porter is really one of my favorite narrators, he can just read a story and make even simple explanations interesting and exciting. I really have come to like his work over the years. He may not have the myriad of accents that some narrators do, but he just nails his performances.

I wanted to love this book more than I did, I still really like it a lot, but it's not jaw dropping like 14 was. I really like Peter Clines work, and if you like 14, the Fold, Dead Moon (big dumb zombie fun on the moon), and the unrelated, but still amazing Paradox Bound, then this is a must read. If you read 14, and wanted more, then this is a good follow-up. If you're new to Peter Clines or Threshold, then this is not the place to start. Go read 14 and come back.

I want more!

So that's how I have felt after reading each book in the series. Each story is great and complete, but at the end of each I want more. I want to know how each universe relates to each other. What's Alex's backstory? How in the world did he learn about the alpha predators? and on and on and on. I really want to see the lead character from The Fold in action again. That's my endorsement for this book and the series. The books spark my imagination.

A final commentary. I know that some people want an end to end series that seamlessly picks up where the last one left off. But, I think this style of storytelling is far more intriguing and in the long run: durable. However, I'm going to put this out there into the multiverse, it would be fun to get a series of short-stories around the edges of each of these stories.

A triumph

I loved it from beginning to end. Ray Porter is a great voice actor. And Peter Clines gives him great material to work with. I was on the edge of my seat, waiting in my car after the drive was over, didn't want to put it down intrigued by this one.

Love it, despite my overwhelming squeamishness. Love that the connections are being made more and more.
