Resumen del Editor

The next generation is here, and trouble is in their DNA.

Jessie and Eric Ramsey have a family history of crime. Fighting back against heredity, each tried to make their way in the galaxy by respectable means. Jessie joined Earth Navy; Eric went to college for magic. But fate wasn’t having it. Eric was expelled. Jessie went AWOL. Now, due to a magical mishap that wasn’t entirely anyone’s fault (we swear!), they’re stranded five years in the future on a Mars that’s no longer friendly territory.

Caught behind enemy lines in a galactic civil war they didn’t know about, the pair need every trick in their respective books to survive on Mars long enough to escape. Along the way, they’ll meet old friends and make new foes, and if they’re very lucky, manage to figure out where they belong in this new galactic order.

And Mars is only the beginning. Time travel is a one-way trip, and the only way to stop is death. And Ramseys don’t die easy.

Tempus Fugitive is the first mission of Black Ocean: Passage of Time, a science fantasy series set in the late 26th century. What if Futurama jumped five years ahead instead of 1000? What if Doc and Marty lost the car keys? What if Bonnie and Clyde were siblings instead of lovers? Passage of Time jolts the Black Ocean universe forward into new adventures and new perils with a new cast of zany misfits trying to outsmart the galaxy just to get by.

Strap in and hold on tight. Passage of Time is the latest series in the Black Ocean universe, and it’s going to be an action-packed, mystery-filled, madcap ride across the galaxy!

Space, Wizards, and Time Travel

In the series Black Ocean Morin built a great universe which has been the backbone to the Astral Prime series, Mercy for Hire series, & Mirth and Mayhem series. In this new series Passage of Time we are reunited with the Ramsey family. Morin’s focus this time is with two characters who didn’t get as much focus as Chuck, Becky, & Brad (Carl) had in the previous Ramsey centric series.

In Passage of Time:Tempus Fugitive Jessie & Eric hop forward in time and find themselves in peril on a core world. As I started reading this new series I couldn’t help but wonder how much influence an Carl and fugitive Mort had on the “young” wizard Eric.

I started with black ocean complete volumes

I remember thinking, why would anyone buy one mission at a time when they can get 90 hours for 1 credit. I realize now. It's like, "Here, take a bunch of crack for cheap, and hit me up when you're done." Now, I am reduced to buying mission packs and fiending the next release. Also, I started the twinborn series. Good 65 hours for 1 credit, that's a banger. Mikael Naramore is the best voice actor to ever live, and I lose interest in audio books now that are not his work

Great new series in the Black Ocean universe

I recommend to most readers to read at least some of the older Black Ocean books so that they have a knowledge of the various characters and players.

Now the book starts a bit slow, and I would say it's about 1/3 to 1/2 in that I really started to care for the two main characters, but I immediately acquired (with my own audible credits) the next part. Hence the 4 stars for the story (no 4.5 option), although the next book is a strong 5 stars.

You will get the usual mix of magic, tech, factions, politics, fights and chases, etc, with flawed but interesting and attaching characters. One of the two main protagonists feels quite on the autism spectrum, but put in a pretty good way.

The narrator is top notch as usual. Please keep Mikael Naramore as the voice of the Black Ocean books, he is really great at that.

Disclaimer: I used my own audible credits to buy this book and the next book (like I did for all my books so far, and for all of J.S. Morin's books), before finding out that I do qualify for a free copy to leave an early review.
The only influence this future free credits have on my reviews is that I'm taking the time to leave the reviews, this does not impact my ratings.
