After the discovery that the encampment outside of his Safe Zone is full of friendlies, Marc and his group finally have a chance to try to grow stronger again. The addition of an administrator for the Safe Zone as well as someone to coordinate its defenses finally allows Marc to feel like he can go out and do other things.

With the number of survivors they're finding in the immediate area rapidly dwindling, they choose to go farther afield, working on gaining additional resources for the Safe Zone while searching out any remaining survivors they can find.

His father reported passing other Safe Zones on his way back to town so Marc decides some investigation is in order. What he intends is to salvage the ruins of a destroyed Safe Zone his father spotted and offer trade and cordial relations to the surviving one that's closer by. What occurs is not what he intended or expected.

With the possibility of a technology upgrade for his Safe Zone, what appears to be a community of some sort of elves a few miles south of the Safe Zone, and the sneaking suspicion that the System itself is merely a tool for someone, or something, else, Marc isn't quite as free to just do what he wants.

Enjoyed the pace and plot. Well laid out story lines and in general held my interest well as to make me want to read the next book in the series, which is often not the case.

Always an intriguing story

Great for listening to while at work. If you like city builders with some interesting battles and mysteries then this series will be perfect for you. You learn some interesting things about The System in this installment too so if you want to know more about that big mystery then listen on.

great story, narrator needs practice.

I am enjoying the story, however the performance is lacking. Pacing of conversations seem off and while there is different voices there needs to be more emotion. half the time everything seems to semi monotone. While this works for the stat blocks, it doesn't for the interaction and combat. There basically no life to the performance.

Review

I was able to listen to the audiobook from book 1 all the way to book 5. I would give this audible book series a C- in the terms of enjoyment. The biggest weakness I see with this audible series is the lack of the magic system not fully flushed out. Which is disappointing, because the author has a very unique twist when it comes to Litrpg book series. The narrator was good, except when he started to voice female characters, he was actually pretty terrible!. There are times when I cringe just listening to him voice a female character😖. This series would’ve been helped if there was another narrator which was female, would’ve helped flush out the female characters..

The Natural Apocalypse series 1&2

For the first two books so far I’d like to share a brief opinion to help those who are trying to navigate through the many books to find the obvious good ones but to also narrow options further by the readers interests as well as mood. That said. This is a litrpg and one done very well. My most favorite of all books have many things For consideration to be top notch one I’d like to address here is weather or not a book can be great even if you don’t have a deep connection with the mc or love of the characters. I believe they can be great literature and personally liked myself even if I do not have the deep connection and love of characters as long as there’s still a connection with them or understanding. Implement that to what type of settings, plots and world creation each of us connect with and It can make up for allot. Now I’m not saying I don’t like the Mc or other characters. I enjoy them rather much. Sometimes I can feel a little impatient with the mc but overall it’s just his character and I still enjoy connecting with his point of view in following his trials. Be it triumphs or failures.
The series name is dubbed very well for the explanation of the type of litrpg you can expect. Very much worth the credit in my opinion. Thanks
