• Corporate America: "There is no recession, my friends: no downturn, no hard times. The rich are wallowing in loot - and now they want to make sure you don't come a-lookin' for your piece of the pie."

Frustrated: oversimplifing and diluting of issues

Moore makes insightful and valid points in a clear cut and easy to digest manner. As ambitious as he is however, Moore lacks comprehensive argument in the issues at hand by oversimplifing or diluting problems to mere type-specific groups and/or distinctions. His tendency to portray America's problems from a tight box of labels such as Black vs White or rich vs poor is fractioned, contrived, and prejudiced even as they attempt the fight those very things. This can undermine the legitimacy of his arguments and serve as a barrier for acknowledgement. Post-BFC, Moore has earned a great amount of authority over what will typically be seen as the "Liberal/Leftist" cause (especially to younger generations), with this added responsibility, it is essential that he reflect a more encompassing view of our society's problems and their vehicles. This audio piece is well worth listening to as long as it does not become the say-all of our solutions: a good introduction.

An interesting read

The first time I paid Micahel Moore and heed was for his movie, Bowling for Columbine, which was fantastic. That led me to give this book a listen. The majority of the book is interesting, revealing many connivances concerning the past American election and the corruption of the Bush cabinet. The minority of the book is filled with Moore's ideas on how to fix the state of the nation, which range from illogical to "out there" (an open letter to Yassir Arafat recommending he follow Ghandi's lead?)

Maybe these were jokes, and I'm not up on his humour. Based on his wonderful movie and this book however, I'd say Moore is best left to revealing the problems, not fixing them.

A hilarious look at a very serious problem.

1 star reviews...Just like the Nazis used to give.

I love reading the one star reviews. It's quite obvious that these people didn't read this book. They are just knee-jerking per the standard conservative reaction to anyone who questions the legitmacy of the Bush administration.
I'm a pretty open minded person but having read both "Treason" and "Who's watching out for you", I've gotta say that the lack of sustainable fact and the over-abundance of hersey and hot air by conservative writers is astonishing.
Granted, Michael Moore and Al Franken aren't very sensible some of the time but the facts and numbers they provide are indisputible.

If you think otherwise, just wait a few years. History will see this time for what it is...the darkest days of America.

Why didn't Michael Moore read this himself?

The content of this book is great. Explosive, funny, provocative. I just whish Michael Moore had read the book himself for this audio version. His personality plays such a great role in delilvering his humor. Unfortunately this narrator doesn't even come close.

No Reservations

Moore takes no reservations when it comes to criticism of the sad state of our government--and Dubya himself. Unfortunately, his relentless potshots paint him as an immature smartass. It makes for a but-gusting listen, though. That is, if you voted for Gore or Nader.

To that end, the Narrator couldn't be more perfect. I usually tend to stay away from audiobooks in which the Author him- or herself hasn't narrated it, but the exception I made in this case was well-rewarded. Not only do I have any reservations about recommending this book, but I also can now see why it was such a huge best-seller for so long.

A Wake Up Call

The revelations in this book will amaze you. It will leave you woundering at how such events are allowed to occur. It time for people like us to get of the bus and stand next to Michael in front of the bus.

Man's a genius

This guy has the bravery to stand up to Bush era big oil concerns and shows us how americans are just standing around with their collective heads in the sand. A good read

Michael Moore does it again

Once again Michael Moore attacks the right-wingers and the democrats who should opppose them, but just bend-over backwards for the moral minority. Just like his other books and his movie Bowling for Columbine Michael Moore pulls no punches in his quest to show the plight of the Americans being screwed by evil, stupid or lazy politicans.

Right On!!!!!!!

It is too bad that the right wing wackos don't want to read this book. It decribes perfectly the way the election was stolen by a spoiled rich kid and the crooked way it was accomplished. It makes Presidet Clinton look like a choir boy. Left up to Bush and his cronies our country will become a giant oil field and mining country. He wlll make sure a hole is dug deep enough to bury all of the elderly, poor and helpless so his rich cronies will have something to brag about. Stupid White Men is a great title I just hope that another book doesn't have to follow called Stupid White Followers.
