This New York Times best seller was the inspiration for the first season of American Crime Story on FX, starring Cuba Gooding, Jr.; John Travolta; David Schwimmer; and Connie Britton.

The definitive account of the O. J. Simpson trial, The Run of His Life is a prodigious feat of reporting that could have been written only by the foremost legal journalist of our time. First published less than a year after the infamous verdict, Jeffrey Toobin's nonfiction masterpiece tells the whole story, from the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman to the ruthless gamesmanship behind the scenes of "the trial of the century". Rich in character, as propulsive as a legal thriller, this enduring narrative continues to shock and fascinate with its candid depiction of the human drama that upended American life.

Please note: This audiobook is a recording of the original 1996 edition of The Run of His Life. It does not include an Afterword added to the 2013 reissued edition.

Great story, but narrator is horrible. Bizarre voice and tried Hispanic accents. Extremely strange. Tobin tells a vivid story nonetheless.

Narrator is horrible!

If you could sum up The Run of His Life in three words, what would they be?

What a circus.

What did you like best about this story?

What I liked best about the store was getting the intimate, inside look at trial and the people involved. I also really liked getting to know the main players back stories too.

What did you like about the performance? What did you dislike?

Bel Davies was a decent narrator, but his lisp drove me crazy.

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

I really liked learning more about Marcia Clark and her past.

Any additional comments?

If you watched the FX miniseries "The People vs OJ Simpson" and you want more on this story, you'll be glad you read this book.

More OJ! Less Narrator.

Good book, but I really disliked the narration... odd voice, poor pronunciation and command of the language ...

Good book, poor narration

Just buy the book and read it instead. I read this book years ago and was really looking forward to using an audible credit to get this audible book. I should have clicked the "sample" button because this performance is really, really bad. Davies reads this thing like he has somewhere else to be. It's a pretty serious topic and there are a lot of really cool things to really dig into and ponder, and yet this guy reads it like he is being paid for the quickest possible read.

It's terrible. The sad thing is that this book is so incredibly well-written, it is shame that Davies ruined it.

30 minutes into this thing and can honestly say, I wish it had been ME that OJ had murdered.

At the time the trial fascinated me...like everyone else, of course. Watching the mini-series then the stuff on ESPN I thought why not. The little details are what make this book excellent. Toobin takes his time on so many items that in some respects I was taken aback about how much I did not know about the different players but otherwise so much of what I thought was true was clearly confirmed. Paying attention to the trial and listening on the radio everyday I honestly could not believe the final verdict (I should say at this point that I am white). To hear that only 2 votes were ever cast for guilty was also shocking. You have to give it to the defense team, they knew what kind of juror they wanted and they went out and got it. A group of uneducated and biased people. Clearly OJ is a double murderer and should be in a California prison for life.

Really???
