Resumen del Editor

Three years after the showdown with Finch razed their hometown of Freepoint and changed their lives forever, Phillip and the rest of The Ables gang find another school year interrupted by a growing threat.

Relations with the government have never been more strained and the political rhetoric has shifted to a more hostile tone when discussing those with special abilities. A new branch of Homeland Security has been empowered to investigate custodial acts of heroism and even detain suspects indefinitely. While juggling his leadership responsibilities over the dozens of Ables members, a new crush, and a growing anxiety problem....

Phillip will have to decide how much of The Ables' time will be spent training for simulation games and how much will be spent stepping into the real-world crime-fighting holes created by the custodians that have disappeared - presumed to be imprisoned or worse. Confronted with a mysterious new villain wielding a previously unknown power, Phillip, Bentley, and Henry will be forced to stretch their abilities and their bonds further than ever before.

really good

pretty good, I wish Jeremy would have done the narration, but otherwise good. not as good as the first one, but still solid. can't wait for the next.

Excellent sequel

Most of the original characters with added new ones. Very well done. Having disabilities myself I appreciate the fresh chosen perspective.

Where is James?

What happened to James? It seems he is fine at the end of book 1, but then I cannot see why he is not there at the beginning of book 2. Did I miss something?

The book is entertaining, but just slower and more sad. There was more fun had in the first book, and I enjoyed that.

Good, but should have been read by the author

The story is a good sequel to the first Ables book and is worth listening to. That being said, the reason I came to the Ables party was the voice of the Cinema Sins guy. Having someone else read the sequil is a bit jarring and I never quite got use to it. Like if Yahtzee Croshaw of Zero Punctuation had someone with an American acsent read one of his books. Still worth getting, but gets a Sin (Ding!).

GREAT sequel!

I couldn't wait to hear the follow-up to The Ables, and this certainly did not disappoint! I listened to this whole book I'm one day and it was so much fun. Great story with great heart.

Kudos Jeremy!

Not as good as Book 1

First the narrator was alright however, but it was a step down from the Ables. The book has some good ideas, however some parts of the book had me asking why are they doing this..where is everyone else..and the ending just lost me. People exterm things when there were other options.

great sequel, too short

narrator is great, and the story is epic. I really wanted the story to be longer, but it wasn't lacking in any substance... just didn't want it to be over yet.

Loved it!

I was ecstatic when I found out about the sequel to The Ables and am glad that it lived up to my expectations. The writing is on a level that I'll be able to share these stories with my kids soon and it's mixed in with some hard hitting moments that are sure to illicit tears and punctuate the weight of the characters decisions on their world. My only criticism is that Jeremy Scott not doing his own reading for this audio book lessened the experience, even though the reader did a very good job in his own rite. Highly Recommend!

Needs work, but I still liked it

Mosty to reviews for this one are right. Ables book 1 was clear and well thought out, while this one had a half baked plot and a super quick ending. I felt like there was a framework for a great sequel but Jeremy ran out of time. This book is considerably shorter than the first one and it shows, most of the story centered around Philip being forced to grow older than his 15 years and had some very thought-provoking literation...but the world was on fire at the time and it seemed misplaced. He was dealing with major anxiety and PTSD but they don't really touch on why that is, sure he had gone through a lot of trauma in the first book but usually panic attacks can be traced back to a particular event and I would have liked more detail shed on it. It also popped up in plot convenient ways which are a bit annoying. I also felt that the relationship he has with a teleporter named Emiline while his mother was a teleporter named Emily was a bit lazy. They are actually a cute couple and I loved all their interactions but, I would have liked a different name at least.

Also, who is this villain? She is hardly introduced and we had no time to connect with her motives and some important people were just written off. She had so much potential and her power was really cool! Sadly, she was 5 steps ahead until the last minute when she was just, beaten. No fancy monologue, no identity reveal (it was obvious who the villain was) and no real consequences of her actions.

What happened to James? Philip refuses to talk about it in the one and I am left frustrated by a character being written out and no explanation why.
Why were the events of the last book barely touched on when it's obvious the bad guy is still out there? Some of the chapters ended with the group leaving for a mission and beginning with them already in danger...like what happened? So many details and questions!

I loved the new characters and how Philip and Patrick's relationship got some spotlight. Very well done.

I don't know if Jeremy was getting an endorsement deal for his local Jack's Pizza, but he mentions this place way, way, WAYYYYYYYY TOO MUCH. Almost every chapter is them eating at Jacks, talking about Jacks, smelling something that reminds them of Jacks and it was driving me crazy. I swear it was mentioned at least once per chapter and it drove me nuts. I'm fine with people having a hangout spot but seriously,

I like this series and think it has amazing potential. I really hope to see an improvement with the next volume.

a real step back

This felt like a step back. Unfocussed, weaker storytelling, poorly written characters. it felt like it should have been longer with more consequences. hopefully it the next book picks up.
