Minutes after Vice President Nick Cappuano and Lt. Sam Holland get the call that President Nelson has been found dead in the residence on Thanksgiving, they’re still processing that Nick has been asked to come to the White House to take the oath of office.

As they go through the motions to ensure a peaceful transition of power, Sam has a million and one concerns about her husband, her family, the Nelson family, the country, and the enormity of what Nick is about to take on. In the back of her mind is another major concern: What does this mean for my job? However, in order to do that, she quickly realizes that compromises will have to be made to continue working as a Homicide detective. Their lives become an immediate firestorm of meetings, requests for interviews, difficult questions from their children, and a host of potential landmines to navigate as they make the transition from second family to first family. An unexpected issue with a diplomatic trip to Iran quickly thrusts Nick into the thick of his new responsibilities while Sam confronts a murder investigation that may have ties to a cold case from 15 years ago.

As everything around them spins out of control, Sam and Nick take refuge with each other, relying on their unbreakable bond to see them through the storm.

Outstanding story and narration

I couldn’t wait to dive in to the first book in Nick and Sam’s newest journey. This was a great book and one that I listened to in one go. I couldn’t out it on hold not for a minute. I just had to know what was going to happen. The narrator Eve Kaminsky did a great job bringing the story to life for me.

It was so great to be back in the world of Nick and Sam, their family and friends, it really is like coming home when I read these books. Nick and Sam are so well suited to each other and their love continues to grow whilst living complicated and at times dangerous lives. 

Ms.Force delivered a story that had me on an tender hooks with twists and turns that left me reeling as Nick and Sam faced a life altering event. Not only that but the heat and sizzle between Nick and Sam was intense as always.

You will be drawn into this story, you cannot help yourself, such is the skill of Ms. Force you cannot help but become invested in all of the characters. I always love catching up with Sam, Nick, Scotty, The Littles and their extended family. 

The journey continues

This book was well worth the wait. I thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to the next book.

Love everything about this one

I was so excited for State of Denial because it picks up right where State of Shock finished and I needed closure. From the moment I picked this book up I knew this was going to be a very special read/listen and I wasn’t disappointed.
Eva Kaminsky did a wonderful job bringing the characters and their story to life.
This book touched me on so many levels, I cried and I smiled but more importantly I connected with Sam, her team and the struggles of having a family, a successful career and being the First Lady. I was captivating and there was no putting down until I finished this one and once again Marie Force gave me a book that deserved more than the five stars I can give.

What A Ride!

I loved the Fatal series and knew I would love State of Affairs, I was right. Sam and Nick are a formidable team. Scotty and the Littles with Elijah and Tinker Belle are so precious. Just love Ms Force story telling. Great book!!

The reader really gets Sam and brought her to life for me. it was great.

Worth All The Wait!

I was addicted to “The Fatal Series” and I feel another addiction with this series. Love it! Keep them coming!

LOVE this series

I absolutely love this series and all the characters! While it is getting to be a bit far fetched with them being in the White House, it’s still really good and I’m looking forward to more. I will always highly recommend this series and all of Marie Force’s books! And I am over the narrator. She’s just too breathy. I can’t quite put my finger on it but it’s become annoying.

Great continuation series

I was afraid if he became President it wouldn’t be as interesting, but I was wrong. This book had all the humor, tender moments and great police procedurals as the other. My only draw back was that it didn’t seem as sexy as most of the others. Also Sam ditching her Secret Service detail the first call she got after becoming First Lady was just stupid & immature, (didn’t fit with how she’d been portrayed so far) her story about couldn’t wait was ridiculous with as many agents as there were around, someone could have gone with her. Otherwise great book and great narration by Eva Kaminsky.

So real

One gets so involved in this series they are real, not pretend real but real. Marie Force knows how to get to our feelings and bring them Alive. This new series is no different from her Fatal Series with same characters and same love. If you want books that take you away grab one of her books. Like a little mystery to solve along the way then grab this series.
